Don't suppose they plan on releasing this for the Mac too? Does anyone know if its coming to the mac?

Don't suppose they plan on releasing this for the Mac too? Does anyone know if its coming to the mac?

Of course! remember, EA loves Macs.... (as Borat would say, naaaaaaaaaat!)

I think it's unlikely or, if so, would be about two years too late, just windows and 360 as far as I'm aware:

looks pretty cool though, will get it whenever it shows it's face.

I'll just get the PC version then, even though I would prefer to support Mac gaming... Thanks!

I wouldn't mind some help here!..

Ok, i have Cammand and Conquer 3.. (For mac).. but what i am wondering how can i play this game (Without the CD in the drive).. Yes i do own the game as i have said. But i would rather just play it without the CD..

And I am quite sure that Kane's Wrath will come out on the Mac..

i would assume that they will release a mac version of the expansion. EA was at the Apple Keynote and did that whole be spiel about how they're reopening the Mac platform blah blah blah.

there's NEVER ANY information about a mac counterpart to one of their games on their website so i wouldn't use that as a barometer.

my guess is that it'll be a few months delayed.

Seems to me...

we should be able to install it into the file structure, esp. if it's an exp. pack - like ZH, you should be able to figure out where the pc files go. The mac 'port' is just the windows .exe app in a Cider-ized package. i've placed many custom maps in my game and love 'em! So, altho' i haven't yet figured out how to install the Gunrun mod, i ain't givin' up yet! Just last nite, i saw a Tutorial 'mod' in the Custom Maps tab, which i don't recall seeing before, so...i hope to have solved the mystery of how to load mods.

Again, it's all pc file folder stuff - there just HAS to be a way for it to work!:D

MBP 2.16 CD, 2g, X1600,256vram, 10.4.11

i like that mentality, smacky!

the only question is that all the things you're doing require minor changes to the C&C app folder...

but an expansion is usually a new app, ya know? it requires the original to run but is actually an individual program.

and is there a mac version of the custom map maker?

No on the map/sdk. Real bummer, too. i wish EA (and APPLE) would quit d**kin' around and either say no to os x gaming (and for Apple to admit they only care about iPhone gaming because it might sell more iPhones) or commit. Hell, I COMMIT when i plunk down $50+ tax for a 'wine-red'-down version of a pc game! And i know - the same argument i hear over and over; 'but mac gamers are a small market and there's no money in it'. Well, i read somewhere (here, i think) that some analysts are pie-eyed about mac market share going to 50% in the next few years - yeesh! Can you imagine what it would be if Apple said, 'ok, we're in this gaming thing for the long haul, so we can deliver the knock-out blow' and then released a gamer machine?

And i know - openGL isn't as good as DX10, 11, etc and onward into oblivion - fact is, it wouldn't HAVE to be if they coded the games for openGL!!!

Sorry to yell, but it's just so darn frustrating - hell, i've influenced any # of people over the last decade to buy mac, including the school i work for! Personally, i'm sure i'm just like every other longtime mac power user in that i've spent a lot of money and time with Apple (WAY more than pc mfgs) and just wish they could walk the walk as much as their marketing talks the talk.

And yes - they are awesome, and they do really innovative things; but you'd think they get a clue when it came to gaming (heck their own Apple Store cnc3: TW page doesn't even mention the new 1.09 patch!! FOR LEOPARD USERS, darnit!)

ok, now, me chillax...sorry y'all.:p

oh - ummm...yeah, it usually is a new app - but if we could get ahold of the files, all you'd have to is place them in, i would guess - but then again, i do know that cnc3 can be very hinky when u monkey about in the innards...moreso than ZH. Still, having seen the exp. - i'm MORE than willing to try! :D

One last thing...

...i'm starting wonder...since this is just a cider-ized package...and all the files are pc windows files...couldn't i technically take said files, burn to an iso udf, install in bootycamp...and play?

then - i could use the sdk, just in bc...and make customs there?

igor! to the lab!!

not at all - just ponderin' out loud seein' if anyone out there knows more than i (please!)

well, one thing it would do is keep me from having to buy the pc version, which i could then experiment on, sdk/mod-wise, and see if i could figure out the exp. install ? - IDK if you've seen the Gunrun mod or any of the other ones out there, but having played TW for a few months now, i dig it, but am ready for mods. ZH has many that are mac capable, so...i'm starting to think i may just ask teh Gunrun if he'd take $50 to commission a mac port! I can wait for KW, but- still! Epic units!!!

Plus, i know there's a macologist (or is it insanelymac? i fergit right now) forum thread where members have figured out that since cider is just a 'wrapper', you can replace the .exe files with other game .exe files and - voila! Game on!! Well, sometimes. And there are quite a few games i'd like to play in os x without having to boot into bc or use vm software (which seems buggy to me, but have yet to try).

I would LOVE to figure out how to load Sins of a Solar Empire into os x. Reminds me of Pax Imperia...loved playing that on my G3!

It is pretty BS to release an exp pack for PC and not Mac. That means everyone on an Intel Mac that bought the Mac version is probably wishing they had just bought the PC version to begin with. With bootcamp its kind of pointless to make a Mac version when it is more attractive to buy the PC version for use with bootcamp. Luckily I had bought the PC version awhile back and will not have an issue running the expansion.

Kane's Wrath is not coming to the Mac. I just contacted EA. I'm pretty damn furious, EA was on stage with Jobs for cripes sake. I love the game but I get no love in return. Time for everyone to launch an Executive Email Bomb against EA and Apple.

I currently own Command & Conquer 3 Mac, are there plans to release Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath for the Mac (Cider based). I'm really looking forward to the xpac but I have not heard anything about a Mac release which has me worried. I'd hate to think I bought it and then EA isn't going to follow through with their talk of supporting the Mac platform. Thanks. -alex-

That is a real bummer for me. I was hoping that C&C KW would be coming out for the Mac. I knew it would probably be a very long time but why come out with C&C 3 and then have the expansion only for PC, it doesn't make sense. I agree with kaltsasa, we all need to launch an Executive Email to EA and Apple.

That sucks! I have Kane's Wrath for Mac through Cider (unofficial port). That's what happen when those lazy asses won't release it for Mac! Only thing that don't work in it is lan. The engine is the same. Just new movies, maps, missions and some new units. That is just silly!

They won't get my money when they don't release it to Mac. Would take their developers less than a day in Cider! Just lazy idiots!

Pirate the game for Windows and run it on Boot Camp. Don't feel sorry for EA. Just keep playing till they release it for the Mac. That'll teach them.

Hmm, it doesn't say anything about Kane's Wrath on the list...Tell us if it works. That would be fantastic! That'll allow me to get rid of Windows for good!

If you are a member of Bronkenstones (a Mac torrent community) you could get Cider port there. And then buy the orginal to get a code to play online. That is suppose to work. But Lan doesn't...

But ofcourse Lan might be working if more people try to fix it and look into it :)

Some other EA person (looks to be higher up than Level 1 CSR) just emailed me and says they are aware of the lack of Mac port and while they can't confirm anything to me I should keep a look out for something relatively soon.

I've taken a small breath now, but I'd prefer them to announce something if they actually are going to release it, even if it's going to be a few months down the road (though with Cider that seems less necessary). Maybe they need more complaints, if anyone is interested in Kane's Wrath shoot EA an email expressing your concern of the lack of mac port.
