No on the map/sdk. Real bummer, too. i wish EA (and APPLE) would quit d**kin' around and either say no to os x gaming (and for Apple to admit they only care about iPhone gaming because it might sell more iPhones) or commit. Hell, I COMMIT when i plunk down $50+ tax for a 'wine-red'-down version of a pc game! And i know - the same argument i hear over and over; 'but mac gamers are a small market and there's no money in it'. Well, i read somewhere (here, i think) that some analysts are pie-eyed about mac market share going to 50% in the next few years - yeesh! Can you imagine what it would be if Apple said, 'ok, we're in this gaming thing for the long haul, so we can deliver the knock-out blow' and then released a gamer machine?
And i know - openGL isn't as good as DX10, 11, etc and onward into oblivion - fact is, it wouldn't HAVE to be if they coded the games for openGL!!!
Sorry to yell, but it's just so darn frustrating - hell, i've influenced any # of people over the last decade to buy mac, including the school i work for! Personally, i'm sure i'm just like every other longtime mac power user in that i've spent a lot of money and time with Apple (WAY more than pc mfgs) and just wish they could walk the walk as much as their marketing talks the talk.
And yes - they are awesome, and they do really innovative things; but you'd think they get a clue when it came to gaming (heck their own Apple Store cnc3: TW page doesn't even mention the new 1.09 patch!! FOR LEOPARD USERS, darnit!)
ok, now, me chillax...sorry y'all.
oh - ummm...yeah, it usually is a new app - but if we could get ahold of the files, all you'd have to is place them in, i would guess - but then again, i do know that cnc3 can be very hinky when u monkey about in the innards...moreso than ZH. Still, having seen the exp. - i'm MORE than willing to try!
