it IS possible to port the game over to OS X by changing the install files. I am currently playing the Kane expansion on my quad 2.66 Mac Pro, without bootcamp. Here is a screenshot of the package contents.

yeah hows about a guide or something to do that!

in the meantime, imma get my hands on Kane's Wrath!

(haha, that sounds funny :p)

ok firstly,Cyclone was responsible for the port, and if you were to google "kane's wrath os x cyclone" you may find a torrent. I have also seen this shared on the usual mac boards (msj etcetera). It's a standalone, which means you don't need the original C&C3 apps to run it. To my eyes, it runs just the same as most Cider games.

Btw

And btw. That version doesn't work on multiplayer LAN, but it does work online. In my experience it works great online! But it is slower than in Windows (Boot Camp). But it is faster than the original Mac version of C&C 3 Tiberium Wars.

Hey that's ok I've got 2 copies of C&C Tiberium wars (for mac) that I paid full retail for and they NEVER have worked on my LAN. I've had at least 6 support tickets with EA games and they've never been able to get it fixed. POS software company.... I'll never buy another one of their games again.

The link above doesn't work for me as I'm not a member and they're not letting anyone sign up.

I have repeated this several times in various threads... though not recently.

The expansion pack for Battlefield 2142 was out BEFORE the mac port was even released.

If expansion for that game was never released by EA for mac, what makes you guys think Kane's Wrath would actually be released for mac?

Also take into consideration the fact that 2142's expansion would probably be extremely simple to port anyway. All they would need to port is the maps. The expansion also added new upgrades... but those are already available to mac users as "squad upgrades" (meaning you can only use them on a server if you unlock them during that specific playing session), and our opponents can use them... so the new weapon data OBVIOUSLY works on the mac. But apparently porting three maps is too much to ask for... even though that expansion's been out for much longer than Kane's Wrath has.

As always, I hope they DO release Kane's Wrath... and I hope I'm wrong about this.... but it's probably never going to happen.

I am hopeful this will work. I have yet to install bootcamp, just Parallels. I had my 13 yo save his own money and buy a copy for me so we could play - so far my last hope was to install bootcamp just for this one game. I hope this works as I would enjoy the game!

Played all nine, but I settled with good old Nod :) Blackhands are ok, but lack of stealth and airunits makes Nod better in my eyes. And Marked of Kane has to slow infantery, so you always loose the battle for the mineral spikes.

patience...

...is all one needs, if you're a mac gamer...

thanks to ALL involved who helped make this happen - i can't wait to try it out, even if it won't run all that fast on my mbp cd 216. it's nice to know that mac gamers will NOT give up, no matter what!

so many arguments about so many petty things: platforms, copyright, money/market share, etc. - blech!

all i wanna do is play the game EA! i wanted to buy it, but you don't want to make it - ok, let US make it! that's capitalism and the free market TRULY at work!

just to show good faith, i'm going to buy the winbloze version and play it in bc, and why? because i like gaming on the pc side, too - heck, XP isn't all that bad, as long as you keep it lean and mean and stay away from crap-ware! (please stop throwing things - thanks.) and EA should be rewarded, not because they don't make mac titles (and not ports), but because they made the game!

thanks to everyone for keeping this thread alive - and thanks, too, to MR and the mods for recognizing that we're not crackers - we're gamers who want what we want - like MANY on the MR boards! - and by using our brains, our networks, our hardware/software, and our desire to play, we can show EA and other game developers that even if Apple cant follow thru and are not as passionate as we, there IS a market, and it CAN grow.

go iPhone! go iPhone games!! it will only help the rest of us.

So wait a second guys... does this mean that anyone could install any Windows game using Cider, just by replacing some files and stuff? Homemade Cider ports?? I have Windows games like Bioshock and I'd be thrilled to get it working on OS X.

Re: Miharu

Not all. Many titles works! To bad Brokenstones was shut down, they had alot of homemade Cider ports. Rarely are games as compatible with Cider as C&C3 series, most games have graphical bugs and so on.

so, the new cnc3 kw 1.01 patch is finally made public. still wondering if you can install this update on the osx version of kanes warth. i'm on vication, so i wont be able to test this until over a week. if you cannot install this patch, as far as i know, you wont be able to play online even if you have a valid serial key form a Windows copy of this fantastic game.

hoping for a response, guys! :)

The game should work fine if you update it through wine and then apply a new no cd hack.

I'll look into it. Maybe someone will beat me to it... Hope so ;)

The 1.0 version is already with no CD hack...

SO is my new 1.01 patch! Which will be up soon. Been alot of hours on this one before I finally got it...

Everything works but I can't see to get online working. The game states it's 1.01, and in Skrimish all the balancing chances are there... Very very strange.

They just had a press release about the voice/acting talent on the game, which sent me checking the Web site for platforms. Just for the Xbox 360 and "Games for Windows!!" So apparently Microsoft is still giving them the reacharound. I honestly don't understand how you could play such a game on a console unless there is a keyboard or something.

Maybe the new Mac sales figures will remind developers that, um, a lot of people own Macs. Pretend they sell 2 million a quarter (and the guess is 3 million for the last quarter). That would be 8 million Macs sold in the past calendar year. If 1 million sold per quarter the previous year (probably again quite conservative), that's 12 million Macs about since the time Leopard was introduced. I think that's a good bit more than the Xbox 360s out there.

I still want to kick EA's butt for the sham that is NCAA Football 09 for Wii. So basically I think EA has abandoned anybody not playing on a PC, PlayStation, or XBox. Figures.

ok i need your help

i got the C&C 3 KW cider version. i also bought the pc version to obtain a serial number. now my question is, where or how can i enter the serial number in the mac version?
it is still at 1.0

hope any of you can help, otherwise i wasted the money on the pc version

many thankx

You don't need to enter it in the game. Just must register the game online and then just login with the username and password you received there.

yep got it working, but

ok i got it working and i can connect to ea servers thank you. but now as you might have guessed it, the problem is that everybody else has 1.01 so i can not connect to them. the 1.01 update you made (many thankx) as you mentioned soes not allow onlineplay. might there be a slight chance that you have another look into it? i wish i could do so myself, but i guess that is beyond me.

many thankx for your help and time
