This whole thing is nuts. You are going to see an 8 gig iphone 4 and an iPhone 4g in 16 and 32. Quit with the "low end cloud storage baby iPhone 4.5s".

Edit: Did you all forget the 3G->3GS transition? Its cheaper for Apple to use all the same machinery and as many similar parts as possible.

It appears people do indeed have short memories. The next iPhone will likely be the same as the current iPhone except for: (1) a more professionally designed antenna, (2) a better camera, and (3) will have dual GSM/CDMA capabilities. Maybe, just maybe we will see LTE capabilities too (but don't hold your collective breaths).

This year's iPhone was never supposed to be a major upgrade, just like the iPad 2. That's next year's.

So for once the pictures aren't blurry but they slap childish "Confidential" stamps on top of them. Hah...

Well, got an iPhone 4 and iPad and always said I can't justify buying an iPhone 5 and iPad 2 - if it really looks like that, the iPhone 5 that is, then I can order an iPad 2 as I won't bother. Didn't bother 3G > 3GS either :)

iOS 5 probably be slow as £&$% on the iPhone 4 - then there'll be 5.0.1 and everybody'll be happy ... Next ....

So this is the new World antenna for the low-end iPhone 4 8 GB model that's going to be sold for 99$ or maybe the world antenna for the iPhone 5 that uses the same case as the iPhone 4 but is still the 5th generation iPhone with a much better SoC and tons of other new features ?

People, the 3G -> 3GS update was quite a big update. There will be no "4S" iPhone, it's going to be a 5. Apple didn't fix the naming with iPhone 4 to break it again.

That's a good point and I agree. Doing another iPhone 4 would throw off the numbering/naming for future models. It would go 4 - 4S - 6? i don't think so.

I am always entertained by the 'Apple is wrong and they better do what I say or I'll buy something else!' posts. Quit complaining and go by something else already so you can go complain on their forum.

Even more 'entertaining' are the post release flood of "this product sucks" / "fails" /will never work etc etc until sales numbers are released and they slink back under their rocks.
I like to re-read some of the '10 reasons why the iPad wont sell' or 'How the zune will kill the iPod' articles .. Comedy gold!

:D so true.
Don't understand why some people are so disappointed because of the same form factor. It's a beautiful phone after all. Apple is problaby improving big time all the components and making it much faster. A new design sure would be fun but it's not like the current is stale by any means.
People just have high expectations for all the baseless rumor crap we read here.

Yes. Who needs multitasking when we can quit or freeze apps?

Who needs 4G when it will barely work outside of where 50% of the country lives next year?

Who needs these things when the competition offers them? Walled garden doesn't mean you can't look at the competition, does it?

Oh no, its evil Google and Samsung. Blarg. Apple is great, why am I thinking differently!

I have a webos phone I use as a modem for my ipod touch. If the Google stuff disappoints me and iPhone 5 is just a speed bump when my touch is fast enough...I can wait. That's the point. I don't care much about form factor though a larger screen would be nice. I want LTE. As probably does every iPhone user in the NY area, Scandinavia, London, and the list of cities keeps growing.

Prediction Time
(1) antenna compatible with CDMA / GSM
(2) better cameras
(3) will have dual GSM/CDMA capabilities
(4) A5 (maybe faster than iPad A5)
(5) more RAM (768MB or 1GB)
(6) US consumers will be able to buy an unlocked version on day 1

I think storage options will stay the same 16GB and 32GB

I am sure Apple can address your wish list keeping the same form factor, but again you can always buy some other phone if they don't. I am sure they will not miss you.

If that is all Apple has to offer, they can smoke me for all I care. That'd be a ridiculous upgrade. The only thing you listed that might matter to people is the dual mode capabilities. Everything else is just a ridiculous waste of energy and resources when compared with the iPhone 4.

I would love that. I don't want a body re-design. The current Body of the iPhone 4 ROCKS !!

I just hope we get an ace antenna, and faster everything.

wah!!!you complain to much!!!your a crybaby!!! stop complainining!!! you're complaining annoys me!!! i luv apple products and i dont wanna be annoyed with criticism of my company and complaining is for loosers!!!

I'm always entertained by the 'apple is right and no one better complain about them cause i need someone to yell at!' posts. Quit complaining and go comment on something else already.

Your grammar and spelling skills are making my cat cry

couldn't agree more

you nailed it

however there will be at least one surprise that isn't on this list and that people weren't expecting

No redesign no bigger screen. I can already see the headlines of tmrws newspaper "Is Apple Already Sinking Under Its New Leader?"

Boring. Who cares for more ram, the iphone 4 will handle the new ios just fine considering the 3gs is even getting it + unless devs invest in extra apps for the "special" new a5 and ram iphone (which they wont bc the market of other iphones gives them way to much money still) no one will notice any difference

Could it be that the cases we saw were for the new Ipod's??

I'm waiting for the new Phone so I can Upgrade, I have a Droid Incredible, I like it, but the APP's that self start and you can't turn off kill the battery in a matter of hours.

My wife loves her IPhone 4, We both have Upgrades now, I'll wait for the new Phone, whatever they call it, I'll get it.

The current iPhone 4 will handle iOS 5 pretty well, but I do think the voice recognition and new notification system will benefit and preform a lot better with the dual core A5 in the iPhone 4S.

The more I read, the more I think that we'll only see 1 model this year, and that's the extremely disappointing iphone 4S :(

Me too. I find it increasingly improbable that more and more 4S parts should be leaking but no Ip5 parts. Strongly hints towards non-existance of an iP5.
On the other hand, at least that would mean that it's not getting bigger, which would be one of the very few things that could keep me from buying it.

How about this theory?
Sprint and T-Mobile will be getting the 4S (since the 4 isn't currently compatible) and all carriers will also be getting the iPhone 5.
The current 4 then gets price-dropped to 4S levels and now all carriers will have a selection of models and price-points for their customers.
It makes just as much sense as giving the 4 to Verizon mid-cycle like they did.

The average customer wont notice any difference tho. Lets face it, the normal guy doesnt care for specs or what on earth "A5" is or what RAM does. All they see is a phone in the same shape of the 4 and ask themself why should i buy that "again" or how is that new, it looks the same. People (im one of those) like design changes more than anything else. Its getting boring having the same thing after a while ^^

U can say whatever u want about samsung but at least every phone looks different + they already got lte (now u can vote me down for saying the "S" word, i dont care)

You're right. The reason they won't miss me is enough people are dumb enough to buy a last generation phone for the highest price on the consumer market compared with newer, technologically superior phones, all because the walled garden approach Apple has and denying that there is competition.

Its not that Apple won't miss me. Its that people with less sense are willing to pay them high margins that outbid customers like me. Apple will miss me if those customers aren't there.

But I'm glad to see you think that any geeks who were hardcore Apple fans in 1996 probably won't be missed. You do realize that Apple does believe in customer outreach and retention? Just because they CAN'T meet my demands doesn't mean my money won't be missed, it just means they can't get it. An arrogant company that you describe would implode. Thankfully, Apple isn't this arrogant company you make it out to be. They charge a price for a good and are nice about it. Completely opposite to Apple Fanboys.

Wow... you're sure jumping to conclusions... but maybe that's what you're hoping for huh?

The rumors have it right now that there will be a 4s for the entry level iPhone and a new iPhone 5. But again... these are ALL rumors and we know reality until it's announced. Is that hard to understand?

I do love how with every single release over the past couple of years there seems to be a group of people who want to scream "fail" (just like with the iPad 2.0 - it was sure to fail according to some here) and yet, the sales keep saying otherwise.

4G, 4S, 4GS, 5G, etc.

All terrible names people keep making up.

As of right now, we know of "iPhone 4", and then a "new one".
