Surly being 13, by now youve had a class where you learned to type business emails. Communicating with customer service is all about the short and sweet. They dont want to read long emails. Only pertinent information and a little of your hardship story will usually suffice.

Yeah, Steve makes so much money; I bet it will cost around $3000 in lost time to read through that. Add another $2000 if he actually does something. They might as well gave her a new laptop cause they would have come out ahead.

Unfortunately, I have left Sydney- I am coming back in super late December, but by then, my warranty will have worn off. I bought my MacBook Pro on Christmas Eve, as a matter of fact.

A thirteen year old against Apple? Anyway, the Genius told me that if I had one more issue that wasn't cosmetic, they would look at replacing my machine (short-term, of course.)

Buy Applecare before it's too late!!!

Thanks, I plan to!
By the time I go to the Apple Store, I bet you they've put up a photo of me on the banned pinboard somewhere inside one of those secret Apple rooms (you know, the ones that look like they are part of the wall.

Yeah! I have one of those photos too! But mine is at the post office.... ;)

So, do you think they would really reply to my issue?
I think I count myself as one of Apple's valued customers.
I mean, most of the electronics I have are Apple!
I've owned about six Apple computers, starting with the first Apple Laptop, then the colorful Apple desktop one, then the colorful clamshell one, then the iBook, two MacBooks, and finally with this MacBook Pro.
I've also bought about three Time Capsules. =P For home use, of course.
Not to mention about seven iPods. Through time, of course!

Are you purposely trying to brag?

Are you sure you are only 13?? I'm 20 and now a Computer Science major (aka computers are my life) and I don't own that many Apple notebooks or iPods. I know a 35 yr old DOCTOR who hasn't even owned that many Apple products in his life!!

Owch

I'm sorry to hear about you macbook. The sydney apple geniuses are very out of order for scratching up your case. If i were you i would have taken pictures before you took it in. That way you could have proved it had been scratched and took it further. I personally wouldn't have settled for anything less than an brand new top case.

You could have said, that if they don't have any none scratched top cases they should replace your machine. You need to demand it, because it's your right to do.

That's true. What else can I do now as I am no longer in Sydney and in Hong Kong?

My situation is that I am in Hong Kong, and flying to Sydney is not a possibility. (Six hour flight, anyone?) There is no Apple Store in Hong Kong, and the closest Apple Store here is in Beijing.

What can I do? Now that you've said it, it seemed like the obvious thing to do. However, the Genius said that it was just a cosmetic problem, and they would think about replacing it if there was another computer problem (short-term).

this all seems like waaay too much effort for a minor cosmetic issue.

Just leave it be, and enjoy the computer!!

Emails to Steve Jobs do get answered, so just be patient.

What type of Stain? Expecting perfect colour from machined parts is silly.

A black dot on the N? Right.
Youre just knit-picking then.

Maybe you only noticed the scratching because you were inspecting it closely. Ive had many customers like you, each of them he same. I started taking pictures just so they'd be quiet for complaining to me for damage they did.

What? Why? You buy a machine that costs a minimum of $1200 and you take it in for a repair at the store you bought it from. Why shouldn't it be returned in the condition you gave it to them in? Also, why is it silly to expect perfect colour, if that is what has been promised?

When I was 13, I was still having trouble keeping my bib on while eating... You sound like a smart young girl.. Good luck with your emails.. Hope it gets resolved..

Well, I tried e-mailing Steve Jobs, as you can see above.
I'm just a thirteen year old kid, I can't do anything about it. The Genius simply apologized, and said that Apple simply didn't meet my expectations. What else could I have said?

You also couldn't sign a repair contract, so technically, any terms in that contract requiring them to do ANYTHING about the cosmetic condition are void.

As far as being a "valued customer" because you've had six apple computers in your 13 years...well. There are people who buy 50 a YEAR for businesses. Not to mention that list probably makes your parents the valued customers, if anyone at all.

Where are your parents in this? At 13, you should not be doing any of this yourself.
