So the feature ispermanently gone?

it appears so. Unless it returns in an update. Maybe an email to Tim Cook or apple support. Id say Tim is the best bet as you can't be sure support won't just bury the request. If you do email Tim id explain why you really like the feature. Maybe even adding its usefulness at night in the dark so you can ensure you are aware of your surroundings as nothing worse than head down texting (A muggers or rapists lottery win) Its stuff like that that could get it back.

Dropbox...

I cannot get the Dropbox widget to work...

If anyone is able to get it working please share your settings / setup with me.

Thanks..

I don't like the way they did widgets. I don't think Apple does either, and that is why they talk over it and don't go into detail. This scrolling sucks.

Is There a battery one? I like the OS one but if I could quickly view it, it would be nice.

Currently using,

Yahoo weather widget
Launcher widget
Waiting on a sports on (bleacher report or sports center)
Waiting on a quick view battery widget

Anybody know if there will be a Pocket Casts widget? It's pretty nice on Android. Clean, simple.

Rather inconvenient, but better than nothing. Let's see when apple comes to their senses and adds desktop widgets.

What I want more is simply the ability to place icons wherever I want on the ''desktop''. It's just ridiculous that they have to start at the top. With large Android phones, what I do is that I put a few of my favorite apps on the bottom of the display (on top of the last bottom row) and simply don't use the top of the screen, except for one widget.

To be fair pressing the home button twice (once to turn on the screen and once to show the clock) seems faster than turning on the screen via the home or lock button and then swiping down to bring down the notification center (and that's assuming you want to have the whole Notification Center or pats of it available on the lock screen to begin with). That said, it'd be nice to have a widget like that nonetheless.

If the phone is off, I would agree that hitting home twice might be simpler. But if the phone is on, then you have to turn the phone off, then hit home twice. Not easy. When I workout/run, I leave the device on (runkeeper for example). So, it's difficult to see what time it is. Agreed, the use case isn't a common one, but stil, a nice time widget would be valuable to me. Maybe I'll build one.

Looks like developers are jumping on these widgets quickly, and there's one that already seems to have what you are looking for: an app called Widget at https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id906958479

I don't think "Today" is the appropriate place for widgets. This isn't going to work out in the long term as more and more widgets come in and you then have a massive list to scroll through and the real function of Today is pushed out.

They should have just introduced Dashboard for iOS to the left of the home screen (where search used to be).

Yeah, I'm pretty much of the same opinion as well.

They should also allow for the widgets to be collapsible--so that you don't have to remove them and add them perhaps, but can quickly tap on one to see it or to collapse it if you don't want to always see it and don't have to scroll through many necessarily that you don't need to see all the time to get to some others that you might want.

ick ......

convenience my ass.

i know what i've uploaded, why do i need to be reminded of it ? :p

Apple still baby sitting us i see. That will never change.

I wish there was (or if there is, that I knew about) a way to separate the today summary from the weather. I like the today summary but would prefer a third party weather widget

Why go to the home screen when you can access all the widgets from within any app and from the lock screen?

I disagree. The current way allows me to access all my widgets from anywhere including the lock screen. No need to go home and swipe left to access them.

SportsCenter

The first post states SportsCenter should have been released today (Monday). Any updates on that? I don't see an update that's come through.
