The iPad is NOT going to get an HDMI port no matter how much you may want it to. You can either use the solutions available (airplay, A/V out) or none at all...

they say beggars can't be choosers...

And that's the only spec that really matters.

I'm going to have to cut up some credit cards before March...

Must...not....buy....must....wait....for....Macbook....Pro....redesign....instead....GAH!

It's going to be so hard to resist a retina screened iPad though, for reals :(
 
these high res phone and tablet displays are dandy but..

With the iPad 3's desktop scale resolution and the Galaxy Nexus Tv resolution does this mean we finally get some decent laptop screens? Something more than the typical 1366x768, 1600x900, or 1920x1080 at affordable prices too that would be a dream come true. Also some high res desktop monitors that don't cost a fortune would be nice as well.

You think one precludes the other? I donate plenty to charity during the year and I buy what I want otherwise.

The iPad is popular among photographers as a digital portfolio.

From what I heard the transfer of new images to the iPad is difficult because of the lack of an USB port.

Of course, all your other points add to the equation.

But it does have USB via the camera kit. I hardly see how that makes it more "difficult" (but it does add $20-30 to the price of being a photographer ;)

Yea, the kit is awesome, I've used it manytimes when recording on GoPro and it worked flawlessly.
 
I hope it has a gig of RAM since it probably won't have a quad core processor. Of course both would be nice. Faster dual core, 1gb RAM, and LTE at the same price points. And if 32GB would be standard too that would be a dream come true.

Hey, if people are stupid enough to pay a HUGE markup on the device, instread of waiting, it's there own fault. And besides, he's not selling to the guy next door to him, most of the time it's someone across the country, so don't act like someone is snagging them out of there neighbors hands to sell on ebay. Very simple, people don't like this sort of thing, STOP SPENDING OVER STICKER PRICE ON EBAY! Then it will stop happening.

And guess what? He's hurting the community the store is located in. You subliminally said it in your post.
 
So what your saying is, someone is not allowed to go into a store and buy whatever, and how many of whatever they want? Like I said, it comes down to this, if people didn't pay HUGE markups on eBay for items that someone buys a bunch of, then they would not be doing it, because no gain would be had from it. So don't blame the people that buy a bunch of a product and try to sell it to, god forbid make a few bucks, blame the person that says "I don't want to wait another week for my local Best Buy to have this, I'll give this stranger on ebay 200.00 more then asking price, because I just SOOOOO got to have it right now".

So once again, who is to blame, the person selling, or the person paying the markup? No one has a gun to anyones head to spend over asking price!
