I wouldn't be surprised if Apple was the first to adopt Blu Ray as a standard feature. In the past, Apple was the first to adopt the 3.5" Floppy as standard, (also the first to get rid of it), and the first to offer CD-ROM as a standard feature. I also believe they were the first to offer affordable DVD burners (superdrives).

I disagree. Granted, Apple was first in mass-adopting technologies that reflected a clear successful/evolving path; this was the case with 3.5" (over 5 1/4"), with CD-ROM (ditto), with GUI and HyperCard-like apps, with USB and (dare I say it) Firewire...

But BR still moves on muddy ground because of the struggle with HD-DVD; it would be premature for Apple to move straight to BR before further definition is given by the market in 2006; and I am sure the company doesn't want a new form of Betamax failure in its new desktops...trust me.

As for CES itself, it has never been Apple's venue; as far as the PC industry is concerned, it represents just a showcase for inferior products and the newest Dull offers or Alienware monstrous/ugly cases...nothing else.

Apple is way above that, and MWSF is gonna show us the real truth about leading-edge portables and trends, not Bill Gates and his crash-prone keynotes.

I want a Blue-Ray external FW drive :D

That would be hot - especially if it had outputs and controls so you could hook it up to an HDTV if you wanted - one player for multiple applications - it would be nice if it was a burner as well - and price at $149 - oh sorry I must have dozed off.....

Yes, I know that...my point is that Apple will not blindly launch something unless it has some clear sign that BR will be (at least) a fair success, taking at least 40% of the HD market...I don't think Apple will be the guinea pig of the BR consortium yet...

Because you can't afford a 42" LCD? :p ;) :D

Actually he is right Shard, LCD technology past the 40" mark gets very very expensive. Anything below is affordable. :)

Plan on seeing some form of 30"+ and sub 40" screen released or maybe not.

My guess: 32" 35" or a 37" ACD. :)

Plasma displays are affordable at 0"-50" after that they tend to hit the steep prices. Though as of recent this is changing. ;)

I know, I was just joking - see the ;) :p and :D in my post? Just having some fun... :)

I agree, if Apple did release a larger LCD I think another 30-something inch display would make the most sense rather than jumping to a gigantic 40-something inch display.

No probs. :)

I don't think Dual Link DVI even has the bandwidth for a 40" LCD. :p :)

Agreed - I don't know of any technology which would allow for this right now, but someone please correct me if I am wrong....

Apple is also an active member of the DVD Forum that approved HD-DVD as the standard to replace DVD. Apple is maintaining an active role in both HD-DVD and Blue-ray. It makes sense. Apple doesn't want to be left behind.

Apple pioneered USB and Firewire. However, was slow to adopt technologies such as USB 2.0, SATA and DVD+R.

Why should you know, and why do I have a 37" LCD TV?
That's why I said logical and not reasonable. You will find it illogical if you try to decode my logic, as I have none. :p

15 > 17 > 20 > 23 > 30 > 42 : Logical! :D
