Gaging by your vote numbers, I'd say the average forum reader has no sense of humor.
your holding the new ipad wrong
Sure, like "antennagate" where Apple says that nothing was wrong with the iPhone 4 antenna. But provided a free rubber bumper just to quiet the masses. Then when the iPhone 4S comes out it has a different antenna than the 4 to fix the problem? Is that the "gate" you are refering to? While I love my iPhone, iPad 2, and MacBook Air, Apple is expected to produce higher quality products and thus are held to a higher standard than other brands, and should as the ask a premium price for said products.
Overall CR is impressed with the new iPad, and based on the video below they are likely to give it a very high rating and recommendation.

"The indications we have so far based on our battery of tests is that this is a very good device"
The antenna was a problem. Fine.
How about when Ryan Block at gdgt.com tried to manufacture "Glassgate", saying that a piece of debris or sand "could" get in between the back glass and a slide on case and scratch the glass or even shatter it if the debris is too big. No known occurences of this. Just something that COULD happen.
That's exactly like what this whole heat thing is. Someone says their iPad got warm with use. Now it's been spun so out of proportion that people are saying they could get 3rd degree burns from checking Twitter on their iPads.
It's irresponsible journalism and it's only happening to get clicks. Honestly, Apple should go after sites like that.
Wrong. People expect Apple to follow through with their words and marketing. If you MARKET a product to be perfect, and you sell it at a like price, then yes, I expect perfect. Can I handle a $200 tablet rebooting every now and then or having some bugs? Yes. I spent $200 on it.
Still loving mu iPad 1. No joke- the form factor rules all IMO.
So is it hotter than my iPhone 4s? My iPhone 4s gets very hot while playing Real Racing 2, and I'm not the first to notice that the iPhone 4s gets hot while playing games. There's been no controversy over that, so why so much over this?
I agree completely on USB2 vs FW400. But technically, 3 is much faster than FW800, up to 6x (5Gbps theoretical, but I think 3Gb is more "real world"). Even with some USB latency that should be pretty good. But I've never used it, so I got nothing real.Technically, USB 3.0 is faster than FireWire 800, and USB 2.0 is faster than FireWire 400, but those promised speeds are even more BS than the promised speeds of other wires. I'm pretty sure that in real life, FW 800 beats USB 3.0.
I'm sorry if I insulted your power supply. How gauche!I would saw you should learned to read because instead you going insulting.
What about USB 3? It's not slow.
Blaming CR for this not going to stop the complaining because CR reported was complete true. It gets quite a bit hotter than the iPad2. That is a fact.
not trying to invoke the name of jobs as an extreme, but i really don't think he would've tolerated all the compromises of this ipad. The larger thickness, the heat, the charging, all very "non-apple".
Apple products have always stood head and shoulders above the rest because of little refinements that make the product simple and a joy to use. This ipad seems to take a step back from that.

I noticed the charging problem. I'm going to call Ape and see what they say. I plugged my iPad into my computer during initial setup / syncing and noticed I actually lost 2% power in that hour.
If this is the case, I'll be returning mine!
Just tried Infinite Blade II. After a couple of minutes play, the bottom left side became pretty hot. I was resting the iPad on my lap, and it was definitely not comfortable.
I used to play for 2 hours non-stop on iPad 1 without feeling hot. It's not a good trend, for sure.
You know this first hand? Did you compare your iPad 2 to your new iPad? Just curious.
It doesn't even need to be "extremely heavy load" to prevent charging while plugged in. In my experience, any use of the new iPad while it is connected to the charger will prevent the battery from charging. It will maintain its current battery status without dropping under normal loads, but I have to leave my iPad alone before it starts to charge.
