I agree with this completely. Look, I've owned just about every single iteration of the iPhone and I have never. I repeat, I have never - ever - sat on my phone or placed it in a position where it might have suffered damage (except for dropping it a few times, but that's a different issue). These phones are fine for the environments they were designed for.

Ah, and you never stumbled, you never jumped into an elevator you wanted to get, people never hit you in the bus and you never stopped because of unexpected children behavior.

You are living in an iPhone friendly environment :)

Phones! Life! Ahhhhhhhhhhh!

I've never seen so many comments for one story before. Does anybody know what the official record for # of comments for one story is?

Yeah, and I know all of them, they are not telling the truth, they said so to me in person the other day, and my best buddy was there as a witness. True story.

How many is numerous in this thread? At last count, I noticed maybe 3? WOW! Let's further keep in mind while I have no reason to disbelieve anyone these are in fact unverified reports. Just keeping things in real.

IF this is as bad as so many of you are dying to believe, then it will become very obvious and will make headlines in a big way. Last I checked with the major news outlets, still nuthin'.

As far as I'm concerned Consumer Reports is a more reliable source than some dude on YouTube who is generating loads of cash on views by busting phones. Not being a structural engineer, I need to trust that CR knows what they are doing. That said, I'm not too thrilled that the iPhone 6 appears to be weaker than the 5.

As far as all of the Android phones tested, they appear to be well built. I still don't want one, but they appear to be well built.

Like they say the loudest people are always the minority.

Only on MR can 3,4 people be called numerous...

About the lamest way to discredit someone.

Also, I didn't think I would have to explain this, but that was sarcasm..

So now you do believe that iPhone 6 Pluses are bending with normal use? Great! Welcome to the real world.

Not really no.

Sarcasm is "a sharp, bitter, or cutting expression or remark; a bitter gibe or taunt."[1][2] Sarcasm may employ ambivalence,[3] although sarcasm is not necessarily ironic.[4]

I agree about trusting Consumer Reports over most of the YouTube videos, but I will give credit to those YouTube videos as the catalyst that ignited the fire. I also agree with your comment that the iPhone 6, based on the Consumer Report's video and their subsequent summary chart, is substantially more susceptible to Deformation (about 45% more) than the iPhone 5. I have an iPhone 5 so I am waiting a bit to see how this issue "flushes out" with the iPhone 6 before I decide to upgrade.

There Can Be Only Nine.

I can only think that one of the earlier complaints has been withdrawn.

Oh nice. Then do those remaining nine get celebrity status? Special code names?

How about: Connor, Duncan, Amanda, Mithos, Dilijan, Ramirez, Kurgan, Darius, General Katana.

Ha! Not sure, but add my comment to that number!

OK... numerous... that's very subjective. I've been following this "story" since I have an iPhone 6 and yes, i'm a bit concerned. With that being said, I have zero intention (never did) of returning my phone. I LOVE it, i just know i MAY need to take a little better care of it. I keep mine in my pocket, use it frequently, and it's still straight as a whistle... or whatever is straighter than a whistle.

Now, back to "numerous". I've yet to see a legitimately bent phone. By legitimate, i mean one that was not "intentionally" bent. There's another thread somewhere here asking people to post their OWN photos of bent phones (not the ones circulating already), and guess what... nothing.

I am SURE there will be some that were bent from every day use. But even if there are a few THOUSAND that bend, there will likely be about 100 million of these things out in the wild when its all said and done. if .01% bend... not 1%, .01% that would mean 10,000 bent phones. Leaving the other 99.99% of us resting easy about our phones.

Feel better?

That's reasonable.

I'm not too worried. My iPhone 6 really does feel solid. The again, maybe I got the only good one. :roll eyes:

One thing that I will say is this, if I do have a problem with my phone, I have no doubt that Apple will make it right. I have never received better after sale service from any other company. That's just been MY experience.

It's funny how all the Apple apologists who spent so much time and effort to discredit the original video showing the iPhone being bent have now accepted that it's pretty easy to bend and are yelling for the heads of children who demonstrated how easy it is.

Of course, these are the same people who when given proof that the 6 is half as durable as the 5 moved the goalposts and said "Well, it's good enough as long as you use it right..."

BTW, the numerous comment was not intended as a jab at you

I feel great, thanks for checking. I have an iPhone 6 and I love it. Looks like you feel great too. That's awesome for a Monday!

I agree with your post. I've not seen a bent phone in the wild either. I too would wonder what stress was used to cause it to bend... Because well, everything will break under enough stress.

Who has accepted that it's "pretty easy" to bend? Look at this face... does that look like ease to you?

If someone read this post they'd think the apple "apologists" here were saying "the iPhone is indestructible! No amount of power could possibly bend it!! It is made from God's image!"

The truth is no one is saying that. What people are saying is it will not bend under normal use. If i want to destroy a phone, I can do it no matter how strong it is.

And the children on that video, aside from being idiots (but hey we were all idiot children once), didn't bend anything easily. They were exerting so much force on the phone their fingers were turning pale and their hands were shaking. How'd you miss that?

I've had an iPhone 4 for 2 years, then iPhone 5 for 2 years. Always use a case and put it in my front left pocket. They both looked like new when I sold them.
Got the 4.7" 6 on launch day, and immediately put it in an Apple silicone case.

When the bending stories came out, I thought it was just a few people who had mistreated their phones, but just to check, I took mine out of the case and put it on a flat surface. It was perfectly flat, this was last Thursday I think.

I tried it again last night, and it's very slightly bent, not towards the rear but towards the screen. (I always put it screen side out in my pocket) You can't tell by looking at it, but if I put the screen on a flat surface, I can push the middle of the phone down, less than a millimeter, but still noticeable.

For now it's not enough to bother getting it exchanged, but I'm OCD with my phones and it still bent a little after only a week. It could be a defect with the aluminum in a certain batch, but if they're all this way, Apple will be exchanging alot of phones in the future.

Please any of you 10 million pre-order sales of iPhone 6 please cancel order

With 10 Million pre-orders and counting, I will say once be really worried and cancel your pre-orders sales now so i can move up the que for the iPhone 6 plus. Any anyone else can wait till after chirstmas for theres.

What people are saying is it will not bend under normal use.

Sorry, but I just find this statement offensive. You're essentially calling a lot of people liars. Yet their reports are legitimized by several other findings:

1. iPhone teardown shows a structural reinforcement design flaw that creates a pivot point too close to the volume button discontinuity.

2. CR report finds that the 6+ is significantly less resistant to bending than leading competitors and the 5S.

3. Videos of people using their hands to bend iPhones. Obviously not "normal use," but in these videos the phones bend in exactly the same way as those reported bends in the wild.
