Seriously??
It's a thinner phone!! Shet of paper bends easier then a book!

So what? Don’t be an idiot.

There are lots of things that are smaller/thinner but more efficient/stronger than they previously were in life.

Why can't the tests be in the pocket, or give some kind of perspective here, tell us how much force the phone may experience in the pocket. Using your hands or a machine to bend a phone is stupid, because of course it will bend. Being in a pocket it isn't going to encounter anywhere near the amount of force. The only reason the Note 3 doesn't stay bent is because of the elastic quality of plastic.

I believe Apple does mimic a sitting test. It is in a video one of the news stations made while visiting Apple.

lol. Again, there is already proof that some phones require more force to be bent.

EVERYONE knows that you can always make a stronger phone. I could reinforce any phone with carbon fiber/kevlar, make the walls thicker (like the Moto X), etc.

It doesn't mean anything.

Before bendgate, no one talked about wanting a stronger phone. We wanted larger phones, faster phones, thinner phones, more aesthetically pleasing phones. Not one want was "can't bend if I put my thumbs behind the volume buttons while cupping the sides in my hands like this, and exerting unreasonable amounts of pressure right here."

If you want a durable phone, buy this:

I'll keep my 6+, thanks. I'm willing to bet for the 2 years I plan on using it, it will be fine in terms of bending.

Not everyone knows that, many people here were shrugging off the fact the iPhone was aluminum and consequently it'll be easier to bend and that such reality should be accepted and pocket usage should be changed or diminished.

Of course we want aesthetically pleasing phones, but at which point does aesthetics outweigh durability?

And no, I don't have to fall back to a Nokia dumb phone, it seems the Moto X would do a fine job in the durability department :p

Honestly, these tests - neither CR's or UT's really mean anything in terms of real life usage. I still don't know how the phone will fare after months of me carrying it in my front pocket.

Was amazed by that CS exposé.
Do you maybe have some kind of reading disability?
And sadly it seems to be "poor design" the after all, if you look at this. http://imgur.com/a/FBegH
It seems there is a "weak spot" behind the volume buttons. The metal reinforcement behind the volume buttons is too short, that's why it always bends there and it explains why the lab tests of Apple and consumer reports (evenly distributed force) and the "hand beding tests" (force concentrated at one point/side) are so different.
If the reinforcement would be longer, it would also be harder to deform it as shown.

Precisely. That will be the true test. It concerns me that it seems to bend so easily, but if there are very few complaints by those who put them in their front pocket (like 99.9% of us do) then it's a non-issue. I'm leaning the other way than you....that there will be more than "just a few."

Thanks for being reasonable while having a differing opinion. Seems a rarity in Apple-related forums.

Waiting on my iPhone 6 64gb. I'm actually hoping for the best.

My 6 is on the way, and yesterday I did hold one in Apple Store and played with it, I'm not worried in the slightest.

All this test says to me, if you want an Apple phone and you want a sturdy one, buy an iPhone 5s. The iPhone 6 / 6 plus phones are the weakest ones, beside the HTC.

Nothing to celebrate, IMO.

Bottom line: Whether you believe the iPhone 6 will bend or not, get a case to insure it doesn't Most of us do thatanyway, so it will be a non-issue. But that doesn't excuse Apple from a potentially poor design (if that's the case).

Get your phones, get a case, and enjoy.

You even read what I wrote? Seems not.

Yes i did.
That is exactly what the competition is feeding u.

False information concluded!
Iphone 6+ is more resistant to bending than iphone 6 !
The article concluded the opposite!

The point here is not if the iphone bends or breaks.. All phones will bend and break given enough force in the right place.
But issue is..is the phone strong enough for sane users.. And CS proved it is!
And yet it us the thinnest lightest phone.
If you rather carry a brick as a phone.. I guess that wont matter !

You are falling for competitions disinformation!

Has everyone forgotten these?

Yeah. How many MILLION people were 100% FINE throughout the 2+ years they used their phones?

Dude, all kidding aside. What aren't you getting?

Strong enough! That is the point !

Exactly...the Consumer Report confirms that the iphone 6/6s does bend easier...at what point did #bendgate claim that a bent iphone doesn't work? It states that an iphone 6 is more likely to bend, which it is.

True!! Quite dissatisfied because when I paid my £619 I really was expecting undestructable device! I was quite looking forward to use the 6+ as a chair to sit on it while I watch movies on TV.

I want my money back now.

Why? I personally love it. I'm not someone who suck all the bs Internet throws. I have my iPhone 6 and love the thinnes. i know how to use a device that cost me £600. it stays in my pockets but if I was let's say over 100kg I wouldn't put my phone on my **** and sit on it!! There is something called common sense! Look after your expensive device, it's not meant to be undestructable.

Really would you have noticed or even thought badly of the device/company if it had been 1mm thicket and had a better battery and been slightly stronger because of this?

I think not. There is a point when things are thin enough. I know of not a single person that complains that anything from iP4 right up to this iP6 was too thick and that Apple should do better.

If Apple made an oversight, it’s unfortunate and they will need to do something, not sure what, to fix the situation.
OTOH, if they deliberately cut corners then I hope this burns them very badly indeed.

I hope some manufacturer makes a steel phone that bends only with 500lbs force, and then you can go and buy that one if what you are looking in a smartphone first and foremost is sturdiness.

Do you maybe have some kind of reading disability?

You have the wrong end of a completely different stick.
CR were exposed as liars over the Suzuki Samurai. Google it, just because they tested it doesn’t mean it’s gospel.

Just to show that if you own an iPhone you have to spend extra effort taking care of it. You have to worry more to not bend or scratch it.

I suppose the adage you pay more money to buy hardship applies very well here.

I'm falling for nothing. I'm just following the reasonable argument/hypothesis that there is a "weak spot" neat the volume buttons.
And this CS report just proved that if you evenly distribute force on the phone as shown in the test it's more resistant than the iPhone 6.

Dude? Lol
What are u not getting? Have you read the article ?
Suggest you read it before u......

I read it, I watched it, I lived it. I suppose our comprehension differs as does our understanding of basic physics. Dude.

Not really. While it will scratch, so will many other phones.

You have to take care of an iphone the same as how you would take care of any other phone. I put my 5 in a case, and it was perfect when i took it out 2 years later. It's been dropped maybe 5-10 times in the case (Spigen Neo Hybrid) and it was 100% fine when it came out.

iPhone 6+ is undergoing normal use now. I definitely admit that it is a tight fit in skinny jeans, but I haven't noticed anything defective. Tighter fit is expected given that the phone is bigger.

Just unfortunate timing that larger phones are coinciding temporally with tighter jeans.

You know what's funny though? I used an S5 for about a month while waiting for the 6+. I put it in a Spigen Neo Hybrid as well. Same design: soft TPU inner liner + plastic outer. I NEVER dropped it once. Always been treated like a queen. When it came out of the case, there were nicks and scratches on the plastic (fake metal) sides.

If you want to talk about cheap: it's that plastic.

And BTW: ALL those samsung phones with plastic backs bend much easier than the iphone. It is just that it is soft flexible plastic, so it rebounds to its original form.

Would I like a stronger iPhone? Sure. I would love the 6S or 7 to be a lot stronger (and I can almost assure you they will be after this fiasco).

But am I worried at all about my 6+ now? Not at all.
