Absolutely not, but show me a well established poster here that is claiming to have a bent phone?

How about hanzoh - the guy that started the iPhone 6 Plus slightly bent after 2 days-thread on this forum and documented it with a photo where you clearly see the bend from the side.

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1785905/

He has been a member since August 2005.

That is around 6 years longer than you have been a member by the way

No. A well established poster could easily be a devout Fanboy and hence refuse to prove a point by photographing it. That works too see……...

Head.

LOL

seriously??

If I had a bent phone I would have no problem posting a photo of it and would be very pissed with Apple right now

Monday, no problem.

I’ll look forward to that. Not because I don’t believe you either. Really though, you should have known better than to make a claim like that here without proof. You’re lucky to escape with your life.

No, that's not enough, since it obviously has a weak point at the volume buttons. Even the CR testing, which deliberately avoided the weak spot, found that the 6/6+ are weaker than competitors from LG and Samsung.

As for hearing about bent phones, there are only two phones I've heard of that bend: the 5/5S and the 6+. Last time I heard about one was 60 seconds ago.

And the 6 is much thinner than competitors. Physics.

You didn't hear of other phones bending? Here ya go:

The guy that went to the wedding and warmed up his phone with his nuclear thighs and the rubbing against the bridesmaid leg??

That guy is the classic sat on my phone oops let's blame Apples design

Yes, why is it not possible?
You go get yours changed on the quiet and come on here and say it’s perfect. Easy.
People are deceitful all the time why not you, or I?

Lord have mercy, over 1000 posts already!

What is the meaning of try to bend a phone with your hands? Is what you are going to do with your expensive smartphone after buying it?

Geez, I think a lot of people need a reality check here. YouTube blown their mind.....

What is the meaning to try to bend it in machines like the one Apple uses to test their phones? Nobody's going to do that at home...
If anything, the hand bending is much more likely to happen than the machine bending (when removing a case for example)

As I previously said, I don't understand why we can't find any real life tests (sitting on phone, bumping into something...) from reputable sources.

Go try to bend an M8, a Moto X and a 6+ and tell me which one is the least rigid. Does that mean the phone will bend in your pocket? No.

Dude I don't have the other phones so can't do that

I'm telling you what the CR report concluded.

Complain to them if you're not happy with the findings

He needs time to collect the other 2 phones from his Samsung co-workers that have posted on here..

Or maybe he's friends with the Unbox Therapy guy and needs his 2 bent phones...

Either way video your visit to Apple
Then we will believe you.

I'm not complaining about the findings. That is what their test results showed for the test they performed. The guy bending it with his hands did the same thing, with opposite results. Both tests are accurate. What does this prove?

Possible Explanation?

Interesting article here, that unfortunately includes the original annoying dude bending phones.....but there is a scary thought included. What if Apple has lost control of it's supply chain quality control?

Is it possible that the test units that Apple tested (and that Consumer reports tested as well) had the "correct" grade aluminum, whereas there is cheap knockoff material making its way into consumers hands?

This is definitely a concern at many engineering companies and can be difficult to control, especially when the material comes out of China.

Can prove the Unbox Therapy guy wasn't putting as much force to bending the Moto than the 6Plus...

he does keep referring to the Moto X

Even in his latest video.

Why?

Why not other phones?

Bending paid by Motorola?

God knows...

You mean the supply chain that live off Apple would bugger Apple...

What's the business sense in that??

Ahh - so now his long-term membership on this forum is suddenly worthless as a point to him not being a troll because he 'used it wrong'...

I am quite sure it is not his first cell phone - and probably not his first iPhone either. I did not stand up to what he considered being normal use - and of course that is nothing but his fault

If you build a cell phone that can not take what people have come to expect from a cell phone through years of use you better equip that device with huge warning labels. Or sell it with a complementary man-bag.

Cell phones are not supposed to be sat on.

Go punch your LCD tv

See what happens...

There was no warning not to punch the LCD so you'll be alright....

I don't think anybody is paying anybody. Go to your local cell phone store and see for yourself. I don't doubt the guy bent the 6+ like his video shows. I also believe the CR test. Neither tells me what will happen when I carry it in my pocket.

If you think this is going to silence the bend gate morons you're wrong. these dumbasses are going to keep bitching and making fun for years.
there is no silencing senseless apple haters, especially since it seems to be hip nowadays.

they can whine all they want, the fact remains is that the iPhone is still the best selling phone, ever, and Apple get to laugh all the way to the bank.

I thought Bendgate and scratchgate will affect 5 and 5s numbers, didn't happen. Both phones sold like hotcakes

. And don't kid yourselves, CR could have been paid by Apple. Any idiot would be way more critical of Apple's devices on those tests, they were giddy and overly positive about Apple's devices.

Oh, yeah, the company founded and based on independent testing with decades of reputation is now being paid off by Apple -- the same company they blasted a few years back about antennas. Suuuuure!

Are you people serious??

This is a non issue for me as I carry my phones with a case on them and so does my wife. Also I don't think it be comfortable to sit on a 5.5" iPhone in my back pocket. :)

Why not today? Don't you have one of the bent phones? Industrial machine press not available until Monday?

How would you like me to take a picture of my phone with my phone?? LOL

Besides, my phone isn't bad at all. The one you all want to see is my mother's phone. The next time I will have all three phones in front of me will be Monday.
Now, keep in mind, I'm not talking bent in half or something stupid, and it's nowhere near as bad as the videos and other pictures floating around, but it definitely has one corner (the corner with the volume buttons) that's now bent and you can also see where the screen has pulled away ever so slightly.

As far as the industrial press comment, you do realize that these phones flex with ease by hand right? I pretty much took the bend out of mine by bending it the opposite direction. My mother's, on the other hand, is too far gone. If I bend it enough to straighten it something's going to crack and if it shows any sign of abuse my chances of getting the Apple Store to swap it out will be out the window.

This thread is filled with people talking about "science" and "objectivity" as if there is some fact of the matter about what counts as "scientific" or "objective." These concepts--these practices (science and objectivity, respectively)--are contested and subject to constant argumentation. If you don't know that already, you need to go think about what these words mean before you use them here. Or better yet, just go find a place to be quiet and stay that way for a while.

Not when it comes to standard units of measure.

the best is that cracking sound of the note 3... i love that sound.

That's the sound of the brittle plastic snapping.

Not clear to the naked eye that sees the phone going back to its shape but for sure if you look closely bits of plastic on the inside would have snapped...

there point is that a high end phone should not bend like that especially after a billion dollar of research of engineers.

So please tell us at what force it should bend? 200lb? 1,000lb? Never? Should Apple have built an indestructible phone? I think standing up to 120lb of force is quite impressive.

Cell phones are not supposed to be sat on.

And still people do it all the time. A cell phone that can not withstand what has been considered normal daily use by a huge number of people since the beginning of pocketable cell phones has a serious flaw.
