Vindicated. No one can dismiss Consumer Reports. Much more thorough investigation than someone trying to bend a phone with his bare hands like a gorilla. As well he's choosing the perfect spot to try to bend the phone. He's actually bending the phone at one corner. Secondly the video of the guys who tested the iPhone with a case seems more legit. The person bending the phone with his bare hands looks more muscular than that Lew guy and seems to use more force. He got a slight bend overall. As for Lew, he never fully shows iOS 8 on the iPhone. There is a replica Android copy of the iPhone 6 and 6+ out there that Lew actually reviewed. Could these phones be those?

Well based on the logic here, everyone except Nokia 3310 has clearly a manufacturing issue or a really bad designer.

The logic here is we should not compare any two phones just purely based on one particular feature or characteristics.

This may be why it's been noticed more. Strong enough? Maybe.
But a significant difference to the iPhone 5 which people were used to up to this point.
Relatively speaking the phone is weaker. I can understand how people would be disappointed that the old one bests the new one in some respects.

If you're standing around like a moron trying to bend your phone to prove a point I guarantee every phone can be bent.

I can't believe this is an actual "issue". I think if my car got hit by a truck and bent, clearly the manufacturers problem. I mean aren't cars designed not to bend?

But... but... buttttt... ButButButButButButButButButButButButBut... Mister Lou is SOOOOOO highly respectedddddd :D

Change the record, flip cap boy made his money with his tedious, defensive videos. Someone shut the gate on the way out, thanks.

What..? Did you not watch the video? Did you not see him try it on the moto x?

Yes, my point is if you want to bend a phone
, you can.

I will guarantee that you cannot bend an iPhone 4 with your bare hands!

Probably not, but I did not say it has to be bare hands. I'm pointing to the premise of this thread that given enough force anything will bend/break. In normal use, they won't. The m8 which got the "worst"rating is as sturdy a phone as your gonna find and unless you're specifically trying to bend it, it's not gonna.

You just proved that people won't always treat their phones well, which seems to be the #1 solution to bendgate. Im very happy that your phone is well, however.

Well, I think it's ok, because it was designed to withstand that kind of pressure. IF I'm a complete moron, I will record a YouTube video of bending the living sh$$ out of my phone and then blame why apple didn't make a stronger phone. After all normal usage includes breaking your fingers trying to bend it.

I can't believe apple did not know this.. Such normal usage.

I thought it was just me, I had to read it a few times, now the iPhone 6 is one of the worst phones you can buy in the luxury category.

Am I reading it right?
If your sole criteria for phone quality is how easily they bend under abnormal stress, then you're reading it right.

But for normal people who use their phones in normal ways, the way you're reading it is irrelevant.

I wonder who's buying this guy's phones. :D

All us lot watching his videos most likely haha!

Meh, this is certainly an issue that will need some time to be proven fact or fiction, I would certainly think the iPhone 6 can last a few years in a pocket, the 6 plus not so sure but then again it's pretty big so...

Have to say though, held a 6 today and man it's one beautiful design! Really reminded me of when I first saw the iPhone 4 and thought it was gorgeous :)

I must say I found it amusing how the guy with his hat backwards became every android fanboy on MRs idol for a couple of days. They were straight up worshipping that guy!

It was really amusing. I was amused.

Will Consumer Reports be returning these phones for a full refund?

you assume they bought them in the first place. For all we know CR contacted Apple to 'apologize' for that whole antenna thing (i.e. refusing to recommend the phone even after the details about how other phones had the same issue) and offered to do this test as an 'impartial' group and Apple gave them phones to destroy.

Jony Ive - reknowned, superb talent and respected worldwide for his legendary work over the years.

Lou - making money from slagging off someone else's hard work, and for what? Noone is gonna remember you kiddo, never.

Ok, I see your point then. But this report isn't a real world test as it is done on a specific point, not replicating a phone being in a pocket, then again neither are the hand bending tests replicating a pocket.

As I said this is one that will need time to be confirmed or not.

We watched just because of our curiosity. It's like when you hear someone says there is a dumbhead doing something stupid outside, you would urge to get out and see it.

It would be interested to see how many iPhone 6+ owners would return their phones after seeing his video. I believe most people are still within their return window.

What's even more interesting is that if one analyses Consumer Report's data and calculate an index based on separation force divided by device thickness.

For the iPhone6 series (for separation), it came to around 15 lb/mm (14.49 and 15.49 respectively). HTC One, LG G2 and Galaxy Note 3 are 9.57, 14.61 and 18.07 respectively. iPhone 5 trumps at 19.74.

Thicker device and angular design of the iPhone 5 seemed to make a difference, which obviously stands to reason.

Similarly, separation index based on device weight puts iPhone 5 way on top at 1.34lb/g. The next closest at 0.89 was Note 3 while iPhone 6 and 6 Plus comes in at 0.78 and 0.64 respectively.

One good news of this saga is that some are being given a refresher high school lesson in physics.

What the difference between compare samsung's to another phone vs. apple to samsung's? Are they all phones? Is durability on top of your priority?

Then why don't you buy a Samsung phone and be happy with it? Why bother going here to prove what?

Most iPhone owners don't give a sh^$% about Samsung or other phones.

Bro.
I'm an iPhone owner.

Iphone 5 is stronger than the one I want to replace it with.
If it can bend from normal use with some drops here and there, I don't like that.
