i dont have any contacts...everything its deleted...ipad, iphone, icloud..google, hotmail...i deleted every contact of mine from everywhere,,,,the problem still persists...
when i put another account on my devices everything works smooth...wtf...
Only thing I suggest is to use a network packet sniffer to find out what sort of data is being sent/received, if it's a repeat packet at least we'll know if it's a bug/loop in the icloud sync process.

I've faced this issue last week and wrote here. Last saturday issue is gone by itself, and yesterday it came back again. I reset cellular data statistics yesterday morning and in 24 hours, Contacts consumed 798MB of cellular data, along with %81 of battery.

This is definitely a SW problem so I'm calling Apple support again.

I can confirm that turning off Contacts sync at iCloud settings terminated the issue. Today I have a callback from Apple support and I'll inform this info.

Please report this issue to Apple support and say that you can see; excessive battery, cellular and application network activity for Contacts app when iCloud sync is on.

EXACTLY!!! INFORM APPLE ABOUT THIS BUG...I HAVE BEEN CHARGED FOR THIS ACTIVITY LOTS OF MONEY FROM MY CELLULAR DATA PLAN.. IT KEEPS DRAINING MY DATA AS SOON AS I SYNC MY CONTACTS AT ICLOUD SETTINGS..THATS NOT NORMAL AND APPLE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS... (KEEPING MY CONTACTS UNSYNCHRONISED IS NOT SOMETHING THAT I WANT FROM DEVICES THAT I SPENT THOUSANDS OF EUROS (OR DOLLARS FOR YOU) .. I DEMAND FROM A COMPANY LIKE APPLE TO WORK SMOOTHLY AT EVERYTHING....IF I NEEDED SOMETHING LESS I WOULDNT HAVE BOUGHT AN APPLE ...I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT SOMETHING LOT CHEAPER...

I spoke to apple about this before posting on here, they said it’s working within parameters and to monitor it for 48 hours…….I’d already been monitoring for almost a week before I got in contact with apple 🙄 apple don’t like admitting there’s a problem with their product, I’ve since spoken to some guys at an apple shop who said it’s outrageous for ANY app to be using that amount of battery and they suggested wiping the phone and doing a clean install but I’ve already done that and I still have to have contacts iCloud sync switched off or contacts wipes out my battery to the point I can’t even rely on my iPhone to wake me up for work as it’ll of run out of battery before it’s time for my alarm to wake me up, the recent update hasn’t sorted it so fingers crossed for the next update 🤷‍♂️

APPLE TOLD ME THE SAME...MONITOR...FACTORY RESET... ETC ETC...********....I TOLD THEM THAT THE PROBLEM IS ON MY ICLOUD AND NOT ON THE DEVICE...as soon as i put my icloud to another random device that doesnt have any problem...the problem begins again...ALSO WHEN I PUT MY WIFES ICLOUD ΤΟ ΜΥ DEVICE..EVERYTHING WORKS PERFECT...PLEASE CALL THEM AGAIN AND DEMAN TO SPEAK TO A HIGHER MECHANIC DEPARTMENT AND TO OPEN A CASE....DEMAND TO OPEN A CASE AND KEEP ALL THE EMAILS.. IF THEY OPEN A CASE.. THEY WILL GIVE YOU A LINK TO SPEAK TO THE MECHANIC VIA EMAIL WITH VOICE MESSAGES OR SCRIPT..AND THEY WILL PROVIDE YOU A LINK TO SEND SCREENSHOTS THAT THEY WANT ..DEMAND...THATS WHAT THEY DO AT LEAST WITH MY CASE...THERE IS NO SOLUTION YET..BUT I CAN SEE THEY TRY TO WORK IT OUT BECAUSE THEY CALL ME EVERY DAY AND THEY KEEP ASKING ME INFO ABOUT THE ISSUE...AS SOON AS MANY OF US ASK FOR IT..THE SOONER THEY WILL FIX THAT ****ING PROBLEM...

I thought my issue was with a poor cellular signal at my office, but now I believe it is or was Contacts syncing to iCloud.

This resolved my battery drain issue with my 14 Pro Max (taken from the Apple forums):

* Turn off Contacts syncing to iCloud

* Before charging, turn OFF “Optimized Battery Charging” from Settings >> Battery >> Battery Health & Charging.

*Next power off your phone, then power it back on.

*After phone has turned back on go to settings and turn back ON the “Optimized Battery Charging”.

*Now plug in your phone and charge your phone until 100% and do not turn off your phone.

It may have been just turning off the contacts that was the solution or the two suggestions together but this brought battery life back for me.

Excuse me my friend .. do you think that you resolve the problem because you turn off the syncing of contacts to iCloud ???????? Omg… that’s where we all here with this problem are ..but that’s not the solution , it’s just a pause of your problem .. as soon as you turn on sync iCloud with contacts the problem will return..
as for the other thing with the optimized battery charge it’s just nonsense movements ….so go on and call Apple support..

It worked for me and I don’t use iCloud, so I don’t plan on turning it back on. Good luck.

Whatever … if you are ok to hold a device that costs hundreds of dollars, and don’t work properly seems fair ..(it just a pause of the problem) it’s necessary for me to get backups of the contacts as soon as I get a new one and get synced around my devices

Actually it’s more like $1200 as I bought mine outright from Apple.

I do encrypted backups with iTunes so I just restore from there when I switch devices.

It is pretty apparent that it is a software issue as it was not a “problem” for me until I updated to 16.1.1 and continued with 16.1.2.

The steps I listed resolved the issue “for me”.

If that’s not what you consider a resolution based on how you use your device, then it may be time to try a Pixel 7 Pro if Apple will not do what you want or need for your use.

You obviously know more about the issue than me and I was just adding my opinion, right or wrong, it worked for me.

Calling out someone who offers an opinion is not a good way to encourage others to provide their input or that might otherwise join the bandwagon and contact Apple.

Good luck.

iOS 15.6 RC sürümünü indirip DFU ile sıfırdan cihaza kurduktan, OTA ile 15.7.1 sürümüne güncelledikten sonra rehber uygulamasının mobil veri tüketimi normale dönmüş görünüyor.

It’s not a device or update problem.. it’s an iCloud account problem for some unknown reason…

ben

Bu bir cihaz veya güncelleme sorunu değil.. bilinmeyen bir nedenden dolayı bir iCloud hesabı sorunu…
dude i tried. After installing 15.6 RC, updating to 15.7.1 from the phone fixed this problem. people are back to normal. After you try it yourself, you will see that the problem is solved. My aim is just to help.

When I login to the same device with my wife’s account everything works smooth… contacts work fine. When I login with my account to my wife’s iPhone same problem appears

Definitely a problem with ios 16. There is no such problem in ios 15.7.1. I will update 16.1.2 via OTA soon and check if the error persists. You can download the version suitable for your device from this link.

Does Apple still allow you to update OTA to 15.7.1 after a fresh install of 15.6 RC ?

yes 15.6 RC is open, you can see if it is open from the link I gave and download the ipsw file. my advice is to download 15.6 RC and update 15.7.
