Seriously... Everything is just so much more beautiful with this screen.

I'm amazed that Apple finally has the best display on the mobile market right now, for a few years they were behind.

iPhone 4 = true beauty.

Agreed. At first I was not blown away. I sold my 3GS right before I got my 4. I never had em next to one another. But as I look at it more and more and compare to friends 3GS. I can see the difference. Text looks wonderful. Kindle looks very good. My Foreflight Mobile is also very pretty.

Well done Apple. At least they got that right.

I agree, this display is amazing. I hope they share some retina display love with the iPad (although that would be more pixels than in a 27" imac).

Probably cost prohibitive. But it would be nice.

This, along with the best build quality since the original iPhone.

This year, 3G owners were so eager for the iPhone 4, saying their 3G was sooooo slowwww.

Next year, it'll be the 3GS owners who can't wait for the iPhone 5 and say their 3GS is soooo bluuurryy.

I am willing to pay $2000 for an iPad with retina display! It may need 4 A4 processors to drive it... It may come sooner then we can imagine.

I'd give them $1200. $2000 is laptop territory.
I could see this pricing for next year's models. $599-32gb $699-64gb $799-128gb. Add $100 to each for the 3g models and one more things $1200 256gb 3g and retina display for $1200. I'd line up for it!
Now a MacBook PRo 17" with a retina display I'd pay anything taht they would ask. Even my first born son( if I had one.)

It's truly amazing. I've kept my 3Gs to use as an iPod and can barely stand to look at it. I keep asking myself how I was ever able to read anything on the 3Gs.

Couldn't agree more! The display on the iPhone 4 is absolutely beautiful! I thought the iPad screen looked good. Now I find it ugly after looking at the iPhones retina display. Amazing! Loving my iPhone 4. :)

The only reason I am upgrading is because of the "Retina Display"

I browse A LOT on my iPhone and this will make reading small text so much easier.

It is beyond amazing! I've given myself too many headaches from putting the screen as close as I can to my eye looking for a pixel :D

It is amazing. Now when I look at any other phone now it reminds me of watching sd television right after I got my first HDTV. Apple did a great job and definately raised the bar.

Best display? World of difference? Beyond amazing? Raised the bar?
Not to piss on your party or anything but my 3 year old phone had an Mobile ASV (AQUOS tech, 170 degree viewing angle) screen with 326ppi. Nothing special.

I suppose y'all think FaceTime is the first video calling technology too?

Screen aside do you own an iPhone?
if you did i don't think you would have replied to this post!

Anyone tried using a non retina iPod / iPhone, and can't dazzled by the fuzziness?

Posts like this make me wanna puke.

No one here said that it was new technology. They're simply praising the nice screen. Just because one (or likely a few) phones back 3 years ago had similar dpi, doesn't mean that every smart phone on the market currently has this high of screen resolution.

Point being, we're happy it's on the iPhone. Who cares if it was available 3 years ago? We're enjoying it now, whereas most smart phones currently pale in comparison.

Your argument is moot and irrelevant to this thread. Nothing you said makes "beyond amazing" and "raised the bar" untrue.

I agree with everyone else... that screen is beautiful.

I had one of those, too - a Sharp 814SH, IIRC. Beautiful screen, convoluted UI, $2/minute for extremely blocky, low-res video calls, and the worst browser known to man. Fantastic screen, though.
