Do you realize that not every phone is the best in every location ? If Verizon is the best for your area of use then get Verizon but please don't imply that everyone else has issues with AT+T coverage. Many people do have issues but, also many people do NOT.

I travel about 100k miles a year all the way up and down the east coast.. I actually get full 3G where I live. I've got enough experience with the network to know it's poor most everywhere..

I don't understand why some of you take it so personally. As if I'm insulting your mothers or something. I HAVE A RIGHT to get bored of my iPhone, do you understand that?!

Go away. Beat it! You're bad news. Tell it to your therapist.

From what I've been reading, the EVO's battery life is rather poor. I suppose the 4.3" screen has a lot to do with the paltry battery performance.

The problem is that most of us don't care to convince anyone to buy this or that--you should buy what you want and feel is right for you--but don't start another "convince me" thread.

Almost nobody who has posted is offended that you don't like the iPhone. They are annoyed that not only are you posting a silly thread--why should anyone care what phone you choose?--but it's not even an original silly thread. There have been several almost identical threads over the last month or so.

Not for me. I travel 101k miles per year all up and down the West coast and it's great.

No, but seriously, my service is great. Stop trying to characterize ATT service based on just your experiences. Mine is great but I don't say it's great most everywhere.

Oh don't even act like it's just me..

True, but out of courtesy and too keep the unwarranted "bashing" to a minimum, it's best that we all describe our experiences as just that, OUR experiences. Lots of people have positive experiences on AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, as well as T-Mobile. Generalizing is always in bad form.

Read an evo review somewhere saying how the battery life was all that he could talk about. Everything else was perfect, but the battery was his only main concern.

Anyway, looks like this thread did not turn out the way the OP had hoped for haha.

My suggestion, wait to see what the new iPhone offers before you decide.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

The EVO is not worth paying a high ETF for. If you really want to try it, start service first using the trial period, and port your AT&T number over later if the EVO works out better for you.

You have to go to a Sprint store and weigh out the pros and cons of switching. Other than that, nobody should be able to convince you from one phone to another.

I bought into the hype, got a HTC Desire, and regretted it.

Android is pretty poor tbh, and the marketplace is dire. Although HTC Sense and the widgets are fantastic.

Sure it's 'open' and you can do anything with it.....however nobody is doing anything:rolleyes:, and support for handsets is terrible. (Htc hero for example).

No big company applications, or decent games etc. With a limit to how many applications you can install, and less memory than the iPhone.

That said, it's all my opinion, go to a store and try the phone out for yourself!;)

Enjoy waiting for Android updates. In fact you can start right away because the Evo is already one behind. You can also look forward to seeing newer and more desirable Android devices being released on a weekly basis. More salt in your wounds as you're perpetually waiting for the latest Android update.

I have a HTC Desire; it's a great phone, but the usability and general usage is lacking compared to the iPhone methinks.

For example, despite the ability to multitask, most programs don't have a way to quit unless the developer codes it or I have to download a task manager to do it (extra step); so in this case, at least with the iPhone, I don't have to worry about that (and with 4, it should multitask and be easy).

The battery life the the Desire isn't that great if I use a lot of data. Most things like WiFi Sharing still requires rooting (Android jailbreaking). The GPS (oppose to WiFi triangulation) consumes a lot more power than on the iPhone.

HTC Sense looks great, but that's only the front page; still have to go through a zillion presses to get where I need to go.

And the Android market is a mess.

Well this discussion did find out a bunch of downsides to the android phones.
  • short battery life
  • limited apps that you can put on the phone
  • apps that run eternally (or until you turn off the phone) running down your battery faster
  • the android app store is a mess (and you can get apps which are sub standard more frequenty than you do with iPhone)
  • plastic screens (my big gripe, I held the Blaze and the back felt so much better than the front---ew)
  • crummy service if anything goes wrong with the handset (I wonder if they sell expensive insurance to go with it...)
  • lots of screen strokes to get where you want to go
  • everything on it and the set itself goes out of style at the drop of a hat
  • I wonder what the resale value is on e-bay I bet it's not half of what the iPhone gets

Yesterday I went into Radio Shack to look at the Evo. There was a tall man standing with the salesman admiring it. I picked it up and held it and it was slightly wider and heavier than I thought it would be. It was a dummy phone, it only had a picture on the screen, the screen wasn't lit and working. It just wasn't an Apple product.

I have an iPod Touch and compared to that, no contest.

Buy whatever phone you like. Apple don't care. For every customer lost, I suspect there's hundreds new ones itching to get the new 4g

Yea! I mean. It's going to suck to be one behind for 6 months or whatever until your phone gets the right firmware. Stick with Apple and you'll know it's every year! Oh and you only get one full feature upgrade. After that they'll start giving you less features so you buy the new phone...

Apple's software upgrades on the iPhone is one of the things that really piss me off about it. I'm surprised you made this your argument.
