Looks OK - There is just the feeling of nothing 'fresh with this update'. The things that 4.0 should have also had is;

-BT file transfer
-Abilty to lock screen rotation - this is annoying when in bed
-Que downloads in the App Store - so when you quit App store 3 Apps will download
-A dropdown bar in the homescreen to toggle on/off 3g BT WiFI - it is such a bind to turn these things on/off
-A screen to see all the apps that have a notification as when an App is on the 4th screen you cannot see the badge

That would have made me a happy chappy

4.0 should have also printed money and made waffles. That would have been epic.

During Michigan football games, my texts would almost NEVER go through at the stadium, and sometimes I didn't know that they didn't go through! This will be really nice :)

I feel your pain. During games its nearly impossible to do anything on the iPhone or AT&T to be specific. The University should charge to connect to wifi hotspots during the game. I'd gladly pay a few bucks a game to get a reliable connection.

Sorry if this is a repeat but didn't see it: Mute button state remembered between calls. Feature or bug?

Or you could just turn your phone off for a couple of hours and enjoy the game?

Seriously, it wasn't that long ago no one had cell phones and I seem to recall getting along just fine. In fact, mankind as a whole has been getting along without 24/7 connectivity for thousands of years and besides the occasional genocide/war/etc has done swimmingly.

ok so I dunno if anyone has reported this yet but if you buy an app then drag that app as it's downloading\installing into a folder the install bar proceeds to show in the folder icon

As sdm said, a dropdown bar in the homescreen to toggle on/off connectivity features, i.e. 3G, Bluetooth, WiFi. This is extremely important to me, as I need Bluetooth for my car, but NEVER use it for any other situation, and it's WAY too much of a drag to dig to turn it on and off before and after each drive.

That aside, I will fill you guys in on my theory for the "Next Big Thing" after multitasking.

My theory is that in update 5.0, or maybe even with iPhone HD as a "one more thing" (although I doubt that), I think we will see a widgets page in between the 1st Apps page and the search page. I don't know about you guys, but with the features of 4.0, the only REALLY big thing that I feel I'm missing is one centralized place to see all the basic information I need to see at a glance.

In my opinion, Apple should offer some as stock widgets which you can turn on and off, connecting to apps such as weather, stocks, etc..

In regards to third party programs, I feel that there should be two options... The ability to write a standalone widget, and the ability to include a widget in an app. And example for the former would be Macrumors Headlines (standalone widget), and an example of the latter being Facebook Notifications & Shortcuts (which can be turned on or off, but comes with the regular Facebook Application).

That's just my idea for a Widgets system, which will probably be very far from Apples implementation. However the idea of the system itself is something I DEFINITELY think will be the next big software update feature.

I don't want widgets so I hope you are wrong. I don't need something updating in the background at all times when I don't need it to. I can open up facebook and wait a second or so for my news feed to show up. I can do the same with weather. I may be in the minority here though.

I'm sure they wouldn't be mandatory.

It's all conjecture at this point, though.

I thought my requests were quite reasonable, considering the competition. I would have welcomed any of thr ones I stated over 'folders'.

The quick switch on/off toggle would help...would he good if it appeared when tapping the battery icon.

so true... so true... it is becoming really annoying.... wherever you go... whomever you are with.... smartphones just cannibalize every single aspect of social relations! :( its so sad... but its true... now, if you go with a group of 10 friends to dinner... 8 of them will be insanely typing on their smartphone, either tweeting or texting... and 5 of those will be nagging all night because of the lack of coverage! :S

...

These two i've been hoping for for a long time. I hate the Settings app. sure, nice and simple, but something that I find is used so often, like bluetooth, is buried so far, yet something like carrier, or airplane mode are the first options in the Settings list yet i doubt theyre ever used too often.

I agree big time too on the centralized place for information. Tasks/Upcoming calendar events/notification summary.. Something like this I think is necessary for any smartphone

there's a little step forward anyway: now setting.app goes in background, so it exactly remember where you were! so, for example, if you toggle bluetooth on, when you'll open it again it will show again the bluetooth page!
I know, not the final solution, but is better than nothing :/

Well, I bit the bullet and bought a used MB Air (cool toy!) and moved from B1 to B2 last night on my 3S. So far, except for the known issue with the camera, I'm not having any trouble at all. WiFi works fine, Exchange syncing fine (or as fine as it ever was  ) and all my 3rd party apps run just as well if not better as under B1.

I love the new animations such as the transition from an open email to SMS if you get a notification of a new message. I also like the way photos fly around when you insert them in an email.

Threaded email and spell checker alone make this a must have OS once it's fully baked. Everything else is gravy for me.

I just noticed in B2 that the text select handles now have a magnify bubble that's rectangle shaped vs. round when dragging the cursor. Don't recall seeing that before.
