It was my poison of choice I'm afraid - Cuervo Gold and a little lemonade. I had about half a bottle left over from a duty free purchase last year, so I mixed it up with some R Whites lemonade (its quite nice honest! Needs ice and a slice of lemon/lime really).

Unfortunately some plain R Whites (of the non tequila kind) was brought along, and Applespider in her noble duty of Pimms mixed at one point thought the bottle was just standard lemonade... when in fact it was laced with half a bottle of José's best.

Quite right.... he just guided Applespiders hand to the right bottle!;)

Pimms + Tequila™.... the essential mix for any MR Meet Up!:D

"Uh-I'm a se-cret le-mo-nade duhrinker... (R Whites! R Whites!)
R Whites Le-mo-naa-ha-haade....
Uh-I'm a se-cret le-mo-nade duhrinker... "

(couldn't resist... sorry!... now I'm trying to find a link to a video of that advert...)

Haha, I remember that!

Perhaps you could recreate the video for us :D

Found a few photos on my phone:
I bent it like Beckham (the RGB curve of the 4th photo, that is) to see who was in the photo. Here's the result, for better or worse. Looks like Hector and Piarco75.

It is indeed! And Kernow's elbow. :)

Great idea!

Although I don't own any stripy pyjamas :(

"I'm tryin' to give it up-p,
But it's one of those nights! (R Whites, R Whites!)"

Woohoo!

I finally found a video of that advert :)

RealPlayer required, but the video's here!

I've been annoying everyone at work today by singing it...

Apparently, sung by Elvis Costello's dad. It was made in 1973, but still being shown well into the 80's. I could've sworn he wore stripy PJ's. Well, I suppose I could re-enact it after all!

Oh they just don't make 'em like they used to!

I also thought he wore stripy pyjamas in the ad. How odd.

Cor blimey indeed.

Err... is the picnic finished then?

Lovely day (what I can recall of it).

Just want to put out a public thanks to all of you who helped me at the end of the day and those who saw me safely home.

Fond memories: DCV turning up with the banana, the stupefying amount of food, lovely dogs, people playing their playlists on the iPod Hifi (highly-recommended gadget)... Hector's melon, the boules, an amazing cake...

Am sorry I didn't get round to talking to everyone in the end but I was rudely interrupted by a more pressing matter that involved staying conscious and standing. Bugger... I'm not usually such a lightweight. Getting old.

Thanks all for the fab day. :)

Nice to have us back with us Blue. I hope you've read through the thread and seen all your share of the thanks for ensuring the event happened :).

One thing from this morning when I took Bart to the park. I let him off the lead and threw the ball as normal, but when he collected it he went and laid down at the tree where we held the picnic. Every time I threw the ball and tried to walk on, he ran back and laid down under that tree and wouldn't budge. In the end I had to put him on the lead to pull him away.

So we can take it that Bart thoroughly enjoyed himself too. I think he thought you were all going to turn up again

Just glad you had fun and survived!

You're lucky he didn't get smuggled away at the end of the day. If only I'd had my wits about me... ;)

It was a bit touch and go for a while but thanks to good friends I arrived home safely with all my bits and pieces. Didn't exactly cover myself with glory but there's always one at every party, right? These MR people sure are a fast crowd. :D

Cor Blimey Part Deux anyone?

Absolutely. I promise to be better-behaved next time and to try the potato salad... and I've got the perfect boombox for such occasions now. :)

My next park adventure will be Fruitstock. And I'll probably start a 'anyone else up for it?' thread 2 or 3 weeks beforehand, so stay tuned. :)

Excellent, that sounds like a plan to me :)
