Yay! Sun, food (and who knows, maybe booze)!

BV: do you know if we are allowed to have BBQs?

Also: just noticed the date and I may be late as I am going to have to be in work for some of the day most likely :(

You had to choose the no dogs bit of the park that is so mean.

No BBQ's but people do them any way and get hounded by park wardens.

We gotta have some standards, we'll be drinking and at least this way when we wake up the next day it's one less reason to regret.

ION, you appear to have at least one too many laptops. Why not bring the spare or spares along for those members in need (me).:)

That doesn't sound like fun! Can they still hound you in the no dogs section? Also what do they do once it's lit? It's not like it's easy to move...

Don't think so...

That wasn't a conscious or deliberate decision but if it means being able to walk freely on the grass without being surprised that's a good thing.

It's hard enough to get a group of people to agree on a date let alone a destination. Quite a lot of planning for this has already been done elsewhere. You could at least not be churlish about the efforts that others have put in to organise an event for everyone.

Saying that, you're very welcome to come. Hope to see you there.

Is it no dogs - or no dogs off the leash?

To be honest, I don't think that crossed our mind. It was more trying to select an area where you were less likely to get thumped by a stray softball/soccerball/cricketball, had proximity to loos/drinks/food and still have a potentially large group.

It is no dogs full stop. It is pretty sad coz clarus can come!

Any way I probably wont be in LND then.

I've seen loads of dogs in Regents Park before. If there is a no-dogs rule, I don't think they enforce it very well.

What a fantastic idea. Who's doing the big happy Mac face?

I shall be putting it together at work next week or the week after. It's only going to be a large poster made by tiling a whole bunch of colour run-outs.

We'll then think of a way to fasten it to something so it's visible... that's the half-baked plan anyway.

If it rains, we can all huddle beneath it until it gets soggy. :)

Ahh huddleing under a big soggy Mac happy face during a summer shower sounds very romantic.

oh man, this sounds like a lot of fun. I'm jealous.

I would try to organize a Californian thing but I'm cynical about the potential turn out. We're not as sunny as we seem.

I can print out a couple of A2 or A3 versions, laminate them, and nail them to a pointy stick, if that would help.

Laminated A2? Nice. Especially if it's in colour...

May just take you up in that if you don't mind bringing sticks with you. I was saying to Lau that it would be nice if people didn't feel burdened by what they were bringing but I was thinking that most would be coming by public transport.

I was going to tile about 12-16 A3s together and furl it up for carrying and somehow attach it to a tree but your idea sounds good too.

I'll PM you my email address and can send you a PDF if that's any help. Offer much appreciated.

:( Bummer, I hope you can make it in the end. And as a kick up the arse to those who aren't sure about travelling from outside London – that's one member coming from Norway, and another possible from Jersey. :)

Surely anyone coming from out of town can be offered some sort of accomodation. It would be costly to stay at a hotel for anyone coming from within the UK (eg: Manchester), but 4 hours away by train or something.

PS: I'm not coming. My airplane is in the shop. No, seriously.......it still has a sticker price on it and is sitting in a showroom. :(

I would love to come, but the big "pond" is in the way...... :(

Although, next year I might be spending a semester studying abroad in London- so maybe if there is a party next year, then I can attend. :)

That is unfortunate Abstract, if you get it in time, would you please pick me up on your way to the picnic? :) :) :)

Cool, I'll open up my central London hotel, then. ;)

It's do-able in a day, especially as it's a daytime event, but it's up to people. I'm about 1 1/2 - 2 hours away by train. I just wanted to point out that people could come from outside the London area if they wished. :)

Gah, I wish I could go. I haven't been 'cross the pond in 5 years!

Take tons of pics, folks - for the people who can't be there.

We need to have a little Southern USA meet and greet - maybe somewhere in Texas.
