Vista will push x64 much more on the desktop.
BTW, I'm typing this from my laptop that's running the RTM (final) version of Vista Ultimate 64-bit version....

The laptop is a Dell D620, with an nVidia Quadro NVS graphics chip (64 MiB dedicated, plus 271 MiB shared - 337 MiB total VRAM). The system was a Yonah 2.16, upgraded to a Merom 2.33 from NewEgg. (Dell uses sockets in most of the laptops, so my old Yonah gets 64-bit goodness.)

I have to agree that Vista will push 64-bit onto desktops. Most people won't know it though.

Now if I was only worthwhile to get a Core 2 Duo into my iMac. Maybe one day. :D

Paulvee,

I'd be interested in hearing how Aperture runs on your MB, specifically anything having to do with Core Image.

I do all my work on my laptop, and have pretty much abandoned desktops, so Aperture working well in general on a MB is important to me.

Not Advertising DELL Monitors - Recommending To Save Real Money For More Value

And Multimedia continues with his blatant Dell advertisements...
It's not really an advertisement as I own no DELL stock nor am providing links which pay me any commission on sales generated. It's a wise recommendation for all to consider DELL monitors instead of Apple's.

Apple 20"...$699
- Dell 20"...$359
Save ........$340

Apple 23"......$999
- Dell 24"......$719
Save............$280

Apple 30"....$1999
- Dell 30"....$1274
Save............$725

Plus the DELL Monitors have way more features than the Apple have including black frames, which I deem superior to shiny aluminum..
Thank goodness he's okay - I thought something was wrong. I was worried because Multimedia hadn't added yet another "here's why you should buy a Dell monitor" post for the past several hours.
Lots of newbies here ready to make the Apple Monitor mistake 'cause they haven't read the whole thread. Only wrote this one due to popular demand from one of my many critics in Switzerland. :p ;)

Question

This is my first mac and i was wondering if microsoft office comes preloaded on the macbook..? And is there a big benefit between the black one and the white one...or is it better to take the 2.0 white with 2gb ram??

Yes Better White 2GHz With Apple's Bargain Priced 2GB RAM Upgrade Not HD Upgrade

Office Trial comes installed. You still have to buy it after 30 days. No big benefit for black. You can put in a big HD yourself afterwards for way less money. Yes better to take 2GHz white with Apple's 2GB ram which is less money than afterwards.

Hehe I figured that configuration out since the MBs were released and now I'm gonna return my 1 week old with a dead right speaker MB back tomorrow, hope that I don't have to pay the 10% restocking fee since my MB does have a defect, and get that configuration. :D

It stinks that I also have to return the 2GB RAM I bought from NewEgg. :(

I made the switch and bought my first Mac today at the Lenox Mac store in Atlanta , a white 2.0 Macbook, I have been waiting for this for sometime (waiting for C2D).

I like how Apple has designed the startup for the first time, very straight forward. I also like how it detected my wireless router and with my WPA password, I was connected to the net within 5 minutes of starting the machine up. I have never really played with OS X till today and I find it very intuitive to learn.

Good bye MS!!!

Anyone know whether this c2d MB still have heat and Random shut down problems or not????

My C2D MB is as cool as a cucumber - and I've had it on for about 24 hours so far.

No RSS - build quality is great. However this is only after 2 days - so it may be some time before quality or other issues show up. There will be units of course that would have been handled rough enroute or suffered something else on the assembly line - it's inevitable.

As far as 'design' issues - as this is a revB - I'm assuming all the previous known issues have been thought about before this release.

What size HD?...

Will the new MacBook take any of the 2.5" SATA drives, or do I need to order a "superslim"?... Planning on ordering the Hitachi 160 if it will fit..., and getting a case for the standard drive...

Well, I personally have been holding out on a MacBook because of the integrated graphics. Any chance we could see an actual video card in these things at some point?

i've been waiting for dedicated graphics too, but it's the 2nd gen macbook now and apple have decided to keep going down the integrated graphics path. i think they're gonna keep going down this path, but will probably upgrade the graphics to a newer/better integrated chip next time. i just can't stand waiting for another 6 months for a macbook and hoping that it'll be everything that i want it to be. it's time to buy

yeah there is really no point in waiting unless you must have a graphic card and even if it does come out on the next model it won't be anything that is great. so if you need the laptop now then get it then later one sell it back and buy the new one since apple products alwyas hold their value :)
