Soon....VERY soon!!

My local applestore in Sweden have had their order of Macbook Pros put on hold to further notice. (without any explanation about high demand etc...) The store-manager HIGHLY suspect that there is an update coming within a few weeks. But IF they would suddenly ship the coreduo, the update will probably not be until Q1/2007.

Cheers!

I hope they don't release new ones soon. Apple is sending me a new macbook pro to replace my 2.5 year old powerbook that died completely. I want the core 2 duo (and an 8x DL superdrive)!! I guess I shouldn't complain though, I am getting a new computer that's way nicer than my old one, for free!

Okay everywhere I read on this forum people ar saying that we wont be getting C2D's in MBP/MB until Santa Rosa. Are you people insane? I have not heard one good explaination as to why this would be the case.

So I'm putting it out there to all the nay sayers why do you think we will not see C2D till next year - why not?

I concur. Intel is set to release a revised Merom core with the Santa Rosa chipset, so unless Apple is planning on lagging an entire generation behind in the CPU market (this is highly improbable), it will release a revision to the current mobile that includes C2D.

Depends if they want to stick to a similar update plan as they did with PPC machines (slower, longer timespans between upgrades). I still don't understand why C2D isn't out already. Though, does it even affect sales? Do average consumers notice the difference between C2D and CD?

For most, probably not. The consensus seems to be that the C2D gives only marignal benefits in speed (at the same clock) and power consumption. And in terms of clock speed, C2D only yields a 167 mhz increase.

If anything, Apple should keep the Core Duo for now, but dramatically cut prices. AND they should revise the case for better heat management and easier access to the HDD. These improvements, plus features like 8x Superdrive, FW800, and eSATA, would serve us better than moving to C2D right now.

just hold on to it for a while without opening and sell it on ebay if they come out soon. but don't wait too long to open it as we all know you're eager to get your hands on your new mbp. congratulations.

Just got my MBP 15".....

...and it crashed after 10 mins of minimal use!!!!!

Kernal Panic, wouldn't boot up, phoned applecare went through everything to try and get it working but nothing!!!!

Its packed back up ready to get picked up by TNT to ship it back to apple!!!!!

Its very reassuring that one can spend £2000 and receive a DEAD computer!

When do i get my money back? TWO WEEKS after they get it back to apple HQ.

This is a joke!

PS it was a week 41!!!!!!!!!
