I don't get it. How much cheaper is corn syrup compared to sugar? The cost difference shouldn't result in a price increase on a can of Coke by more than $0.001 (guesstimate) or something.

It's not all that much cheaper, though I know hfcs is easier to blend & transport since it is a liquid; possibly cheapening and speeding up the manufacturing process of the products it goes into. Plus, it has better shelf life.

In Canada, Coca Cola is still made with sugar, whenever I go to the US, I notice a slight difference in taste compared to the Canadian version, but not much of a difference.. but a nice cold Canadian coke is always good, but it's best in glass bottles, all drinks taste better in glass bottles it seems. I brought a few back from Mexico back in the spring... they were quite tasty

I haven't seen these yet, but I am one who tries to cut out HFCS out of my diet. Just a health thing really I guess.

My mom told me about these commercials recently. I think it's funny that corn farmers are so worried about this. To be honest, I didn't think most people cared about HFCS for there to be commercials.

Oh and real sugar Coke taste 10x better than HFCS Coke and I hate soda.

I have actually made liquid glucose, and used glucose in the manufacturing of fudge and brittle.

Commercially available corn syrup can work as a substitute in the recipes that we used but is a second best choice for consistent quality because of the additional fructose molecules.

Urrg, I can't stand the stuff, one of my partners is in the states at the moment and is cooking practically everything from scratch simply because she can't tolerate the HFCS.

I wouldn't survive myself.
