Get the Apple battery case, it's a life changer.

I did, and it was okay until it died completely while I was on an out of town trip, forcing me to buy a mophie case instead. And I didn’t keep it on the phone all the time either, only when I needed it.

Plus it creates that big bump on the back, it’s definitely not a perfect solution.

Either way my 8 Plus arrives tomorrow so I won’t have to deal with this 7 and its tiny battery anymore.

I will be stopping by the Apple store to try out an 8, I am looking forward to be impressed... feeling drunk on all the photos of the phones that have arrived.

This is totally the wrong way to look at the comparison. You are equating the screen size of the iPhone X to being bigger, or equal to the 8+. It's not. The iPhone X will have more identical content to the iPhone 8, not the 8+.

So when you actually look at it, you're getting less content on the screen, less battery than the 8+, a slightly worse 1-handed use than the 8 (bigger dimensions and no reachability), and $200-300 more.

Screen, Ears, super rarely used telephoto lens OIS. That's what you're getting in the X.

Just fleshed out the post more.

Give me a few minutes, I'll find the thread which showed on screen content between the devices.

There was another thread with a better example of the differences, but it's too far back for me to find atm.

Look at the screenshots and do the comparison for yourself. For those who are used to the + device, the screen content will not be as spacious on the X. For those who just want as much screen as possible, maybe they won't mind. The iPhone X screen content is more in line with the iPhone 8, not the 8+.

The iPhone X is so radically new, I would prefer to wait it out for a while to see how it holds up with new owners.

Given the supply shortage, I expect we'll all get a little time to watch how it goes for the early-adopters, whether we like it or not.
[doublepost=1506055661][/doublepost]I agree with the OP, though I also ageee with those pointing out that the screen of the X is not “bigger” in the way one would expect. To those with a 7 Plus (like me), it’ll feel like a step down in display size in some ways. It has more surface area than the 8 Plus, but it’s all from height. The X’s screen is narrower than the 8 Plus, and only slightly wider than the 8. This was a surprise to me when I first learned about it a few days after the keynote.

I’m going to get the X. I can’t resist all those other improvements. But I’m preparing myself for an adjustment period.

Wow! Thank you. Not a fan of his the x looks there compared to the plus. Also that notch looks even worse there. It’s very distracting to look at.

In Canada, even with super cheap taxes here in Alberta, the cost of the X with Apple Care is $1778.00 BEFORE taxes. The only reason I am even considering buying an iPhone is because I really want what the Apple Watch has to offer and I hate old tech. Those bezels on the 8+ are ridiculous, however to combine Apple care and the watch (cell), and suitable storage, if I buy the 8 Plus 256 gb with all taxes included, it totals aprx: $2521.00 (stainless version of watch + one additional watch band).

Tough choice.

I have a question for you: Do you own a home, pay major bills, work and etc.? The reason that I'm asking is because even though it looks enticing to get x with price difference, there are people who are being rational about what they buy. Me, personally, I'm in the situation that I could afford x easily, but spending like this kind of money is a big decision, at least with me. I'm sure lot of people could use 300 dollars to pay for bills or use it for other things. While you do point good stuff, people will buy the phone (either android or iphone) based on needs, values, and their current situation.

EDIT: nevertheless, it's still enticing. BTW, i'm not sure if this post was to convince others to get it or was it just to debating?

I hear you. I've never made more money, nor had less disposable income.

In this case the OP seems to be doing a legitimate cost/benefit review and weighing that against their own need. More people should do this.

This is the approach I'm taking. I will be doing it again once the X is released. However, the fact that I probably will not be able to get my hands on a X until 2018 have made me consider going with the 8/8+.

Even though the X is closer in size to the 8 I think it should be compared to the 8 plus. Even the. The x is $200 more. I think that is not worth it. Exact same phone x just has a little bit better screen that other brands have been using for years. Over the 8 though I think the $300 more is a little more justified for what your getting. Although still overpriced.

Haptic feedback/fake home button killed it for me. Plus none of the AR apps launched successfully and just crash. Vote's are a little concerning maybe? 43 vs 44...
