Could having a Blackberry or Android hurt your social life?

I bought a Blackberry q10 but am concerned whether or not

A) people still have text messaging plans now that iMessage is so popular and

B) if they would stop texting me if I am no longer able to use iMessage after making the switch

It's always been a dream of mine to have a BB since I was young so I finally bought one today (q10). I really like it.

But I'm concerned how not having iMessage might affect my social life.

Well, speaking personally, I tend to avoid the green-bubble grubs. And if one of my friends got a BlackBerry, I'd probably hose them down before I let them in the house.
