Countdown to Macworld San Francisco (MWSF) 2006

As we get closer to 12 hours, we all get quieter, but tomorrow after the stevenote (i like that) we will all start wishing that they came out with what we wanted, when they only come out with an intel powerbook M1, an intel mac mini, a new ipod shuffle, AND a new apple branded CELL PHONE.

LOL, so true. For me though, it truly doesn't matter. Someone will get my money. I need to do something about a TV. I am holding out till tomorrow to see what Apple has to offer. I could have gone out and replaced my semi-dead projection TV (circa 2000) and what appears to be a dead audio board yesterday.

But I have followed some of the rumors over the last few weeks about Apple making the jump from audio to video. So I decided to wait.

But there are those of us that just shrug our shoulders when we bought too early. Yes, I would have preferred an iMac with Frontrow and iSight built-in; but my early summer iMac is doing just fine.

Working retail I guess I have learned not to get too bent out of shape over choices from the manufacturers. Working in the photo industry I can wax on about the Canon 5D and the Nikon D200; and what in the hell was Canon thinking.

Yet, they have people paid a lot more than I am to make decisions. For Apple as long as their stock does well, it does not matter what the rest of us think.

Found this quite interesting too. An aluminum Mac Mini? or is it another Big Idea from Apple's site?

I'll look into it, but I'm pretty sure it was a 3rd party product posted on Macrumors a while ago that was meant to look like a G5. A hard drive maybe?! But I'm almost positive I've seen it before, maybe someone else remembers.

EDIT: Arn beat me to it.
YES!!!! YES!!!! YES!!!!!! YES!!!! NOT REAL!!!!!! YAY!!!! :D Mac couldn't release something that ugly. Oh crap. Now I'm afraid they release something ugly.:( :p

PS: I was just thinking to myself "Dang, there seems to be not picture spoilers this year" but then BANG! its there:D

There is no ATI Mobility Radeon X1800... The fastest, thin-n-light mobile graphics cards include NVIDIA GeForce Go7600 and ATI Mobility Radeon X1600.

"ATI is waiting for its partners to announce the design before it starts talking about it."

Apple could announce the first X1800M for its new books. Apple ever announcing the first latest and greatest GPU is unlikely though.

That's a HD enclosure. That things been out for ages.

the itms store is freaky.. must be some major improvements.. a movie section? must be.. *looks up to the heavens and clasps hands together

soon the store will be down and except for the live feed tommorow, we will be left in the dark...

Unfortunatly for me, this is my last time to be able to post b4 the stevenote, so tomorrow i will post in joy (if a powerbook comes) or cursing at apple. if they do come out with a powerbook, i would buy, then read about it. my wonderful stragety.

I'm loading up store.apple.com on my computer, and am a) going to update asap 2morrow and b) hope that they dont change the web address to something like applestore.apple.com so plans like mine and refresh a million times a minute wont work.

I've only used PS a handful of times and EVEN I know that was the work of Photoshop and a bottle of Scotch.

:(

Are you 100% confident with this information? Please tell me you are, because I would cry if Apple released anything that ugly. :(

How is it freaky? ( Seems fine to me )

Pre-n Airport

Here is my speculation

Apple updates Airport to pre-n. This provides a huge speed boost and better range. It's been out for a year now (check out the reviews on Belkin's router).

Flimsy evidence: I had an Airport Express Refurb on order since Dec. 12. It showed "shipping Jan 18" for that whole time...I think they expect a bunch of current ones shipped back after Macworld! So I canceled it and now we'll see tomorrow.

Apple and GPUs have a good history.

The GeForce3 from nVidia was a Mac-first, but that was only for the announcement. PC cards came out faster. :(

The GeForce4Ti might have had a similar release.

The Radeon 9700 Mobility was kept under wraps by several vendors including Apple. ATI didn't let that slip out of the bag.

Apple announcing they have the X1800M first would be great, but in an iBook? No way. In a Mac Mini? I'd freakin' love it, but no mobile chips on a desktop machine, methinks.

But it could fit in to the reality at Apple that they need to be first in order to keep a competitive edge. They can not ride the iPod train forever.

Prepare to curse. IMO Apple is going to wait for what ever Intel has up it sleves mid year or later. And give the new port of OSX chance to work out its kinks before those that "truly" make money on the Apple Mac platform take hold.

iTunes store down?

Seems 2x as fast... Probobly going to need a beastly server for the new full length movies;) Oh i hope!

Edit: It feels a hellofalot faster than 2x
Edit again: I am blown away at the quickness right now there's about .1 second load time:eek:

For the PowerBook lovers...

I really doubt a PowerBook is on its way.

I think Apple will really want to jump on to a x86 processor that is 64-bit with the PowerBook (and PowerMac) line. In order for that to happen, Intel's roadmap points to a mid-year release of those appropriate processors.

Apple is really the only company touting 64-bit machines. AMD might come in second. But, Microsoft has little support for it from what I've heard (which is very little). Just my thoughts.

Seems like all of Apple's servers are starting to slow down...

Paradigm shift..

14hrs to go..
