Front row 2 - watch and download ( or stream ) movies to your Mac - plus extended functionality.

I can get to Front Row trailers just fine on my iMac. They may at most be doing some backend maintenance for whatever shows up; I'm not expecting anything, though.

Could someone check if TV shows are still accessible? I've downloaded all the free stuff already and I don't feel like spending $2 to find out.

OMG Its Steve!!!!!!11!!!1

Someone! Hurry! Get my inhaler! :and breathe: :and breathe:

OOO My idol. I'm like a 14 year old girl in the '60s seeing the beatles.

Look at stevie in his PIMPED out car! Love the black rims. Wow this is great... to bad i REALLY am starting to feel sick (not faking like i intended to)

Nice car, dirty shoes = a man who's been wearing the same thing for 6 years.

Go Steve!! Show us the way to our credit cards!!!

All I know is there is no way in HELL I am ever going to get a virus after they start selling intel macs. I mean who would waste their time creating a virus for the old powerpc macs?

I am keeping my powerpc macs until I absolutely have to upgrade. I said that with os 9 too but then they came out with safari and iLife, had to update.

My predictions:

- intel mac mini with 1.7ghz, 2ghz Dothan chips. They will use the cheapest here and those chips are still plenty fast and have 2mb cache on board. They will have remotes, tv cards with a great apple tv recording app and front row.

- New powerbooks with core duo and a new awesome design even thinner than they are now with 8 hrs battery life.

- Powermacs will stay the same, no updates here but am hoping for a new enclosure with quad xeons or something.

- 1gb and 2gb shuffles

- Plasma TV bundles with mac mini. Complete doc connector for sound and video, possibly a HDMI connector on the mini.

- New software. iLife 6, front row for all macs with a infrared unit and remote.

- New 80gb iPod video, new 8gb iPod Nano.

Lets see how many I get right.

(The world seems to have so many possibilities after seeing Brokeback Mountain - a really astounding film....)

Pity Heath Ledger's such a prat. You should've seen him "promoting" back here in Oz, he spent an entire interview peeling and eating an orange and when he wasn't eating said orange he was bad-mouthing all of Australian culture, lifestyle, people, everything. Nice work Ledger, way to get the people in your home country offside. Now when he has a flop none of us here are going to care.

Everyone that thinks that PowerBooks will be unveiled at a Developers conference are plain wrong. OS X 10.5 betas are for Developers not PowerBooks - those are consumer and business machines. About 5 years ago to the day Apple unveiled the G4 TiBook. We will see PowerBooks and iBooks, PowerBooks no iBooks, or neither PowerBooks or iBooks. PowerBooks are in MUCH more need of a serious update than iBooks. They have been sporting that form and processor for WAY longer than the iBooks. If you think that High-Rez screens are an update, well you are right, but you will also be seeing those exact screens in the new PowerBooks. watch and seeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. :D

You are so wrong it is bot even funny. Ibooks have been without updates longer than powerbooks. It will likely be both laptops unveiled at mac world, but i guarantee u will see new ibooks.

Days Since Update: 168 for ibook

Days Since Update: 83 for powerbook

hahahahahahahah; that was rich

i love how those are like celeb shots...

Just a funny thought that popped into my head. Assuming the plasma TV rumors are true, just think what Steve would do at this keynote...

There'd probably be couches and chairs setup on stage. During his demonstration, the TV comes up on a pedestal, he'll have a seat on his couch. He'll do some demonstrations of DVR and Front Row and whatever else. Maybe load Safari, showing how well Apple designed it. And of course, show the actual TV part of the TV. Then, he'll have a 3-way iChat video conference with the built-in iSight camera (which zooms in on your head properly).

Is there an "official" Macworld 2006 Flickr tag? I think it would be great to see all the pictures that people are taking.

Hmmm, I think I'm going to go start another thread.

That makes sense in the context of the initial announcement that consumer Macs will be updated first (as does the "unannounced" mac mini upgrade to 1.5GHz, if they were running out of the slower chips)

Well Macs ARE the gayest machines on the planet (s'why I wanna mini)

....and that movie was horrible. Just another film that screws with American views of homosexuals.

Also not available

ALSO
powerbooks will not be updated till april. They have to wait for FCP etc to be updated for use on intel. Why would apple release a powerbook that none of its pro apps run on it?

Also... small update to itunes tomorrow for intel update.

Off topic: i hate when people do that. they find fame and money and they disconnect themselves from their culture.....oh well

Wait... If the new laptops are "introduced" tomorrow, that means that they'll be on the site, available for ordering, tomorrow? Would they then ship within days, or would people have to wait until later this spring?

So long as he doesn't doze off. Sofas have that effect on us 50-ish blokes.

Pixar

Pixar previews are down, too.

Hey, did the Apple Movie Trailers page get a redesign?

What’s the missing piece in Apple’s digital hub strategy in this day and hour? Well, they’ve got the music covered on all fronts, right from content creation (GarageBand) through desktop playback and organizing (iTunes), online music sale (iTMS), and last but not least they’ve been hugely succesfull in the portable musicplayer business with the iPod of course.

Freaking e-books is what is missing. I’m still pissed to hell and gone that Apple still hasn’t steamrolled this lucrative, virtually untouched market. Apple makes the hardware and PeanutPress/EReader makes the books that are also sold through iTunes. Not only is it a low bandwidth medium it’s also a foregone conclusion that e-books will take off. Sony just this last week introduced their e-reader. The specs look great. The use of e-ink is OMG cool with the battery life that is virtually months. But the reader itself is fugly with too many buttons, and too “busy. Apple could drop an unmitigated BOMB onto the literature world. Imagine a store as complete as iTMS with books at 4.99 a pop. And anyone who says that e-books suck please do me a favor and actually try one before you crap on the idea. I read e-books on my 4” VGA Pocket PC and it’s a fantastic experience. The only complaint is battery life and size both of which are taken care of with e-ink. Again it pains me to see this market go untouched by Apple. Literature has been the hallmark of civilization since pretty much since cave men drew on their walls. How this could not be counted as a major part of the digital hub I can’t remotely imagine.

Yeah, well Heath's from Perth so he's more South African than Australian.

No offense to anyone here from Perth who isn't a major prat. You guys are all still OK, it's just bloody Ledger that's giving me the shivering quits.
