The mouse you'd need to get around that display would need a driver's seat and an engine.

But I still want one, imagine the whingers....

Loaded inventory

Maybe I just don't pay attention to details, but this is the first time around a MWSF-type event that almost every major item in the store is shipping in 24hrs... just a few ipod models that are taking a few days to ship.

I wonder if that means that no new upgrades are in store or upgrades across the board or maybe this means nothing.

Go away macd00d you are wasting peoples time and bandwidth.

Awe, come on and laugh a little! It's late, we're all tired and stressed out... and someone (namely me) just tossed out a little nugget for a few laughs. Ok, ok... let the flames commence.

ONLY 1 hours, 46 minutes REMAINING!!! Cant wait. Is anyone counting down the seconds yet?
Well, a friend of mine and I were hoping it would go down to seconds (the widget for the countdown) when it got under a day, but no. Grr.
Jk, of course. On such a happy high (oh, um, not like, drug-induced, haha... then I'd start seeing things in all the pictures everyone's freaking about XD). I need a caffeine high now. More diet coke and a coffee.
Oh, and eVolcre, be proud, I read to the end of the thread before posting anything. :D
But crap. There are probably so many new posts I'm behind again. :( ;)

Ummm...is it just me or are there big "2000" signs hanging from the ceiling ? Maybe this is outdated ? (Or photoshopped from an old pic ? )

Those are similar to the signs in carparks that show you where you are parked by giving a colour/number reference.

Those big signs are just to help people get around the conference centre. You'll notice the one behind the 2000 is 1900, beyond the 2000 is 2100 and so on. They're basically grid markers.

You ma boy Blu!!

Go take a valium or something :p

yes, section numbers... Also there was no G5 in y2k

I love the giant green "Virus Castle". Who are these companies making money by selling anti-virus software!? It's really amazing, I have to think they are scamming paranoid PC switchers. I've had 1-4 Macs at all times for the last 21.5 years, the last time I saw a virus was I think something like 1988? Maybe 1991 at the outside. I've never gotten a Mac Virus over the internet, under OS 7, 8, 9 or X. I can't believe people buy this software.

the problem is you need to consider how many people read MR's. right now there are 1172 users on MR. For some its late. For many it isn't. When you post that; Apple's servers may not get slammed but they spiked for no reason other then having a bit of fun. Kinda pointless humor. Try a priest, a rabbi, and an X joke. Lot less costly to a company and doesn't waste people's time.

The apple store site doesn't have a VR tour for the ibook anymore. It's coming out tomorrow, no question...

Still have my fingers crossed for a new imac...not gonna happen...:(

Umm....no its still there. Luckily you're just suffering of a common condition found mostly around the times of a Stevenote.
Its been medically classified as Antallucenationotis. (Say it 2x fast.)
Antallucenationotis is a condition of anticipation induced hallucinations before a keynote.

ibooks or powerbooks?

What will make you pull out your credit card tomorrow?

Ultrathin design?
Real 8 hour battery life?
Dual core Chips?
SATA hard drives?
13" widescreens?
Ultra low price?

I am really ready for a new notebook (current 800MHz G4 iBook)

Thats ONE site. Think of all the rumor sites and forums that are being linked right now. Something like this gets posted on 5 forums, before you know it, 5000 people are clicking at the same time, until someone sees the 'joke'

Definite impact on the servers

I need to have enough money before I can buy anything :( Fortunately I am only ~$300AU away from what I expect a 12/13" powerbook to come out for. (Sits here massively pawning heaps of stuff on ebay :D)
12 or 13" PB makes no real difference to me. Dual core chips are a must. Decent battery. FW800. 128MB vram gfx card. Backlit keyboard maybe. Up to 2GB ram.

Performance and a true desktop replacement. I'm in the market for a 17" and , actually, I would even go for a 19". I know people say that that isnt a portable laptop but for what I need it, its perfect.

I live in the USA, work in Belgium starting this summer and will be living in a new country every 3 months. So I am not looking for pure portability like my current 12" but a large desktop replacement. I can't buy a desktop and I cant buy a 12" with a LCD screen. So, for what I need, performance, style and weight.

Price, battery life may not have that much of an effect on my decision.

But .. Im a realist. And my gut says the expensive machines especially in the larger sizes wont be here for a few months
