Well think I'm gonna live with mine, and a free bumper I never wanted to use for a few months then sell on. The hassle of a return out of O2 contract release period with no other phone to use a micro sim in etc meaning I'd be phoneless for days, which isn't good when I'm working on the road is just something I can't be bothered with... I'll probably get £300 or so as a sell on anyway. I'll wait till the next batch of Android phones comes and grab one of those as they're much better than I thought anyway.

What I want to know is what is going to happen with the next iPhone - will it still use the "revolutionary" antenna or go back to internal, which would surely mean the design was faulty? Or Apple could stick with it how it is but potentially put off many who don't feel it to be a good design... Will be fun to watch :)

Dear Steve,

Do you really think Apple users are so stupid and will swallow that load? For a company that supposedly offers superior products that justify the premium paid saying "It's out of proportion because other phones have problems" is just plain insulting.

why don't you write that to his email instead of an internet forum?

The complainers have lost!

Even if the thousands of noisy complainers here all returned their i4s now, the return rate would still be far lower than that of the 3GS.

Proving that the i4 is overall the better product for the same price.

Q.E.D.

I still have this, i wonder if AT&T would re-activate it for me.

(I know it is only analogue and there is no way they would do it, but it would be fun to try when I bring in my iphone 4 for return)

I might just do that, and video it.

That would be comedy gold if you could play it right. You need to keep your composure and make them believe that it's really what you want to do.

No, that doesn't prove anything of the sort.

Define the "loss". Do you really think that those who swallow this crap from SJ and keep the defective phones will have won?

people who get paid to do this kind of work. they are everywhere from mac rumors to cnn news editor. Last 4 weeks have been nothing but a media propaganda war against apple. 0.55% faulty phones. And look where we are...

I opened mac rumors account just to make this point.....
Lose the tin foil hat or show me an example of these alleged astroturfers. I've seen 12-year olds drop by and go "bwahahahaha in ur face fanbois DROID ROXXORZ" but that's about it, and if those are on anyone's payroll I hope they're being paid in chewing gum. I've also seen plenty of staunch Apple defenders who engage in some sort of 24/7 damage control, you could just as easily accuse them of being hired goons on Apple's payroll. But they're not, they're just lonely fanatics in basements just like the people on the other side.

Hollywood movies are nice, but man... they've caused a lot of mental damage out there. Conspiracy theories about everything and you can barely get hold of tin foil for cooking anymore, the hatmakers buy it all. JFK was killed by alien invaders, Elvis lives, Michael Jackson lives, Donald Rumsfeld blew up the twin towers and secret Nokia and Motorola agents invade Mac Rumors to search and destroy!

Woohoo, O2 making announcement about the iP4 on Monday post-Apple's conference - seems I will be able to return my phone :)

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2; en-gb; Nexus One Build/FRF91) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

Jobs defended Google during the event for people trying to take them down because they are successful.

If Google were involved in any of this I doubt he'd have said that.

If you are referring to todays conference, no i haven't fully seen it. but if not google certainly many others. not also direct competitors but financial markets as well. apple is the second largest after exxon. that brings enemies...

You're insulted? Did you watch the press con? Out of proportion because only 0.55% reported the problem. Demo showed other phones does have signal loss when held on the weak spot. So, what is so insulting about that. You must know everything then...

Well I personally think SJ came across very sincere, and I don't understand those that choose to be so miserable, I have had an iPhone4 from release day and I use it heavily, I love it to bits, I don't use a case and I have absolutely no need or desire to, I find it hard to see all this selfishness and lack of balance from people, I just don't understand what the problem is, anyway no doubt I will be called a fanboy for saying this, but you know what I just don't care, I am happy.

. Demo showed other phones does have signal loss when held on the weak spot..

What do we care about other phones? The 3gs didn't have this problem. That is the only phone I could possibly care to compare it to. This is supposed to be an UPGRADE from the 3gs.

his arrogance on this is pretty bad....although at least he is going to give free bumpers only to shut us up it seems like

He's not being arrogant, he's telling you the facts. These facts are not new to iPhone 4. You obviously feel completely self entitled to perfection because there are multiple engineers in the business who have come out and said exactly what Steve said. But that's not enough for you. I find you and many others on here to be the arrogant ones.

I'm not defending Apple here, I'm trying to defend common sense which apparently we have lost in this self serving, self entitled, I deserve perfection, greedy nation of ours.

If you don't like it, return the !$@$# thing for a refund already and get a different phone. Otherwise, shut-up already!!!

They’ll still complain though, as you can see by the new threads being created. Oh well, I love my iPhone 4.

Min Bars, Max Bars?

Why is the larger number of bars under the "Min" heading, and the low number of bars under the "Max" heading?

I don't understand it; to me it seems that the labels should be swapped; but it's late at night (where I am), and perhaps I'm just not thinking of it in the right way.

Indeed...

Wow... never seen a bigger bunch of spoiled whiney brats in my entire life. You wont get ANYTHING out of them legally. You shouldnt... if you dont like it, take it back. You have that option. Should you choose not to use it, hey... that's your problem. You are offered a new case, as it has been proven that a case fixes the ANTENNA issue (not to be confused with the "we are made of meat" issue that will be there regardless).

I am sure they will address it as much as they can through software and hardware revisions on future production, but they have a successful business. For those of you saying "wah wah wah! its all about the money!" You are darn right. It is a BUSINESS, not your personal IT department. You vote with your dollars... dont like them? Dont buy from them. Why is this so freaking hard to comprehend?

Hell... I'd give my left nut for a "defective" iP4 right now.

Plus Eleventy!

they get run over by vehicles, dropped in toilets and urinals and also dropped on ceramic tile floors in shopping malls
Of course the are by people that don't take care of them - exactly which one of those has anything to do with the protection a bumper would provide?

Hold your phone firmly in your left hand, center of gravity at center of your grip, put it away in your front pants pocket, and most certainly DON'T 'hold it differently' ("like a friggin ninja turtle") and you won't have a problem with or without a case.
