I've been patiently waiting for a new imac, and I've been waiting for the conference *just in case*. In either case I will have to order said machine on the 12Jun, or the money will get re-allocated.

(keeps fingers crossed)

Is it me or do all those icons look more...detailed ? With de dark shadow etc. They seem to have more "depth". It's a bit hard to explain.

And what's that mail icon with a brown trashcan thing on it ? Right next to the large blue dashcode icon.

And the icon between the UNIX badge and the iCal logo. Something that looks like a soundmixer ? And does someone recognise the icon that's next to it ? The yellow, gold thing ?

They have been changed to .tiff or .pdf under Leopard. To allow for resolution independence.

Possibly. But he did promise at D that they would show a "feature complete" Leopard. I think this is really it, the big unveiling.

Then that alone would be worth the price of admission :D but I've seen too many keynotes over the years so like I said... I still wouldn't be shocked if something big wasn't held back...

Yes, you're absolutely correct. All the icons have been touched up for the banner in strange and mysterious ways. I can't help you with identifying the ones you've pointed out though, sorry.

There are only so many **NEW PRODUCT** rollouts any one company can effetely manage (not to mention push thru the hype machine) at the same time. Apples plate is pretty full from what I can see.

I agree. I wouldn't expect them to try and cram too many announcements in to one show. Better to drip-feed the media over several weeks. But I don't think 3 announcements would be too many. They don't have to show all of Leopard: they showed a good deal of it at last years WWDC remember. That should leave room for 2 other things. Maybe iLife and a new iMac.

I know I'm dreaming, but a new thin Aluminum iMac with Leopard and a new version of iLife full of Core Animation GUI-goodness would be a dream home computer and a Vista-killer in that space.

It's all about leopard but

apple tv, iphone, and macs now run os x. Why can't Steve talk about any and all of these. I also think that the GUI and seceret features will of leopard will further unify the capabilities of the entire os x ecosystem. That said, I pray for a new isight. My macpro is very sad without it, as is the rest of my family that have web cams.

i love pages dedicated to covered banners that provide you with additional links to more covered banners.

I hear ya... and if Apple **really** wanted to kick the ball straight thru the uprights they'd make the iMac (perhaps only a special edition 30") with a removable / upgradable graphics card... The engineering would be a total nightmare tho given it's AIO design.

I doubt that there would be a new iMac, and iLife will only be mentioned if it is going to be bundled with Leopard.

My predictions are Leopard top secret features, either a Mac Pro update or some new desktop, since didn't Steve say something about large investments in desktops. Other than that maybe an announcement that the iPhone will be able to be developed for.

Have you tried that Xbox 360 webcam? It's pretty low-cost and UVC (USB 2.0 Video Class), so OS X 10.4.9 supports it out of the box.

Not sure how it compares to an iSight (especially the USB vs FireWire difference), but given the cost and the fact that it's plug'n play, it's a good deal.

And apart from that green halo ring, it doesn't look too out of place when compared to white Apple hardware.

And to everyone who keeps saying "there can't be new hardware since it's a developer conference", well, those programmers don't all have cash (or even the need) for a Mac Pro. In fact, programmers should have the lowest Mac available too, to make sure their software isn't a ressource hog and works fine on all Macs, if possible (I'm looking at you, Starcraft 2). ;-)

I'd be mad at someone who would tell me "I'm sorry if my program doesn't work properly on your Mac mini, but it runs fine on my 8-core Mac Pro with 8GB of RAM. Get an 8-core Mac Pro with 8GB of RAM to run my program."

Also, if the iPhone can run widgets, then programmers need to be aware of the differences between running a widget on the iPhone vs on the Mac. And maybe even on the AppleTV, who knows.

Developer conference? Yes, that's the name.
New hardware? Nothing prevents it.

I wouldn't mind Ballmer, at least he's funny.

Dude I just threw up a little in my mouth.

Edit: OH. You mean hot as in overheating, as in the cause of the sweat stains. Got it. You have to be talking about overheating otherwise we are back to me throwing up a little in my mouth.

I love the covered banner photos we always see before a big keynote. :D It's times like this that make me even more proud to be an Apple loyalist.
