that would stink if you accidentally marked it or scratched it or something.

That seems not only Dickish but too time-consuming. I have much better things to do than that if that were something that was totally OK to do.

has he brought in the various models? to "show off" to you?
He should try doing that with cars too. get a nice land rover, and then swap it out every few days.

right. that has already been factored into their cost analysis long ago. you think one guy out of billions will change anything.
I don't understand this reasoning. If this has already been factored into their cost analysis, then this sort of behavior has already changed things. We're just already paying for it. That doesn't bother you? Why encourage even more of it, or give it a free pass? It's a scummy thing to do.

It actually doesn't bother me because it is Apples choice to price their items and factor in any kind of service they think they want to give people. If that service is multiple returns then that is Apples choice as well.

There exists no right to get the product to a price correlated to production costs or anything similar to that.

It's my choice to decide if a iPad is $599 worth to me. What goes into the price doesn't really bother me too much. There are so many costs in there that do not improve the device (insurance costs, advertising, patent fees for patent trolls, overhead costs, theft, accidental shipping damage, taxes and also phony returns).

If these were life saving medications this would be different but for a consumer product I only care if it is worth the price to me.

How poor is this guy? I have many friends making minimum wage who upgrade their iPad every year. $500, then sell the old one for $300+ when the new one comes out. The cost of always owning a new iPad is less than $200 a year.

Does he take ketchup packets from McDonalds too to refill his Heinz bottle at home?

Encourage? Hardly. I worry about my actions. I care zero about what other people do or don't do with their lives. I just think people should worry about their own affairs and let others worry about theirs. Too much butting in going on these days.

It's his life, his apple device, and apples return policy. What does this have to do with you? Therefore why do you care?

Nothing, but since we are here in this thread discussing what we think about his actions, I feel that it is wholly inappropriate, even if it doesn't affect me.

I'm happy abt apples return policy...actually satisfied is more accurate. It helped me get over the disappointment of 3 **** iPads. Till I got a flawless one. But I wouldn't want to needlessly abuse it. Who's got time for that?

Not if he uses a credit card and leverages the grace period to his advantage. But yeah, I can barely stand to do the once a year backup/restore let alone doing it every 2 weeks.

Certainly not true. It's only discrimination if they reject you based on ethnicity, religion, etc. If they do it because you're abusing their policies and costing them money, businesses certainly have the right to choose not to do business with you.

Eventually he'll have an iPad that he has to pay for, there's no denying it. Unless this tool ends up without an iPad.

ok thats almost too stupid for anyone to actually do. u know how much work that is? returning something? especially when apple stores are not everywhere.

trust me, that person did not go through with this. or at least, done it once then told themselves that its reallllly stupid.

Depends on your location. We've got a couple of Apple stores within walking distance of the apartment (they're like 600 ft away from each other) and around 5 more within a 10 mile radius. Still, that's too much effort for a device that costs, what, $10 a week if you replace it every year?

This isn't about Apple's choice, it's about how people are using (or abusing) it. If enough people abuse it, then Apple would be forced to either change their policies or raise their pricing. That would be a direct consequence of poor, abusive behavior on the part of their customers, and that would affect you and me as well.

Surely you don't care zero if you're on this thread and actively commenting. Like it or not, we aren't islands unto ourselves. I don't think we need to be butting into the lives of others, but the actions of others have the potential to affect our own lives. I'm not going to do anything directly to stop the person in question, but I have no problem pointing out that it's deplorable behavior.

Sure, if you don't mind having to restore your iPad every 2 weeks and go through the hassle of returning it. I also don't understand how anyone could be so thick-skinned as to go through this process multiple times.

I am also curious as to whether anyone has actually gotten away with this. I am sure Apple will start to get suspicious after the first few exchanges and start to clamp down on the activity.

I am sure people like this do exist; thankfully, they are probably still in the vast minority. Shame that in a sense, we are paying high applecare prices because of these people.

Well how exactly are we paying higher Apple care prices because some people do this return policy?

It's people like this that make the return policies so darn complicated. Apple is very lenient and helpful. They won't be after long if these types keep milking it.

People doing that are certainly not majority. I certain do not do that... Only time I return any Apple product is that I found some problems with the products or simply I do not feel I want keep it. I do not keep returning and get other one just for seek of keeping it without paying anything.

Apple cannot deny you buying its product nor it can deny you return it. Rerun is certainly protected by law. Does not matter what is the objective, companies cannot reject anyone return unless it specifically said on its return and exchange policy. Companies certainly cannot reject anyone buying its product, otherwise, it is called discrimination.
Don't know what country you live but in the USA
No shoes No shirt No service. companies absolutely have the right to refuse service. Discrimination is well defined legally.

Plus, for however long he's doing this, even if he doesn't have to actually pay the credit card bill, the dollar amount of the iPad will be tied up on his account, lowering his limit. So that's worth something too. Why not just make the payments then and own it, lol.
