iPhone 17 Pro Max Crackling noise by the left speaker when charging cable plugged in

I doubt that 26.4 will fix the issues.

I'm still leaning towards it being a hardware issue where the speaker is picking up noise from the cellular, WIFI, and/or bluetooth. The speaker is picking up RFI from one of those transceivers.

It will be interesting to see if people notice any difference since updating to 26.4. The issue has been ongoing since the release of the 17 Pro and Pro Max no matter what version of IOS 26 people are using.

My son recently got a 17 Pro and I will have to ask him if he has noticed the crackling noise issue or not.

Apple did not add the proper filters to deal with EMI/RFI issues on the Pro and Pro Max. Knock on wood, I have not noticed this on my iPhone 17.

Few months ago tried an iPhone 17 Pro with 26.3. It was quieter (only tested few minutes) but it was still there.

You can make small improvements using software/firmware by adding software based noise blanking feature. This is done all of the time with amateur radios. But the only true way to deal with EMI/RFI issues is with physical filters such as toroids and ferrite beads, etc.

Amateur radio operators deal with this all of the time. All of my HF radios have software based filters but they won't clean things up as far as effecting speakers and other nearby devices. I have to use toroids and clamp on ferrite beads everywhere to keep the noise out of my other radios, computers, and computer speakers.

I know, probably too much information. But it is relevant to the crackling noise on the 17 Pro/Pro Max. OIS upgrades seem to be helping a little but it is going to take physical filters to completely clean it up.
