Apple picked a good safe establishment media company for the event. The Wall Street Journal isn’t exactly cutting edge journalism. They definitely will be getting softballs during the entire interview.

Didn’t Joanna Stern actually go to an island to talk about the dynamic island feature? Yeah, the Apple boys are safe
Beats Nilay or Kara Swisher.

How are they gonna twist the disaster that stage manager still is on ipad after 5 months? And she better ask Craig about what magic suddenly happened for them to support older iPad pros after being so adamant it was m1 ONLY….
There's no magic. The A12 iPads support 30% of SM's functionality while the M1's support 100%.

Hardly a disaster or even a twist.

It will likely be resolved via a compromise offering Stage Manager only if an external display is not used simultaneously, due to insufficient graphics horsepower (to handle driving an external display and running Stage Manager), as was mentioned a few weeks ago in an MR story.

Yawn.
As usual just smoke and mirrors with no confirmation on anything we want to know or didn’t realise.

I am sure he is super nice in real life, but why send Joz? The dude literally says nothing - he is like a walking Apple Press Release

I can't believe he is becoming the voice of Apple

He's a very dull little man, he makes Tim Cook look charismatic.

Still I assume he's there to step in lest Federighi get too apologetic about the state of the software,

This is exciting. Craig Federighi is definitely talking about the Stage Manager on iPads. Can't wait for iPad OS 16 and mac OS Ventura to be released!
Not sure what would be exciting about stage manager again as it was already announced and demoed in WWDC. And usually this kind of event is not a place where Apple would announced stuff.

Who in the world is even aware of/cares about that that outside us forum dwellers and tech pundits?

Given the lineup at the event, why would this ever raise to being a question there?

i dont care about stage manager. i am interested in external screen support, pro app support like logic and fcp and multi user managment. the latter for sharing an ipad in my household. at the moment we own 2 IPPs which is overkilled and expensive for what they can do.

Maybe somebody at the event should ask Craig if ipadOS 16 suffers the same security bug risk as iOS 16

Will they be discussing Craig's incompetency and complete inability to put out an OS that isn't plagued with bugs?
Gotta say, I'm kinda getting bored of Craig. His humour and geniality are great, but the proof is in the pudding and the pudding is kinda stale and mouldy.

That, and anything friendly and 'real' he says is completely tempered by Apple's general monolithic and corporate attitudes drowning it out.

That's only 25min of talk time for 3 people.

Very short time slot to announce anything major such as new Mac devices.

Yeah that’s exactly why. Lately that’s just how Apple is. I don’t know if he made it this way or if they promoted him because they want to encourage this, but Apple does not communicate like human beings. I mean just look at Tim Cook. He’s never uttered one syllable that wasn’t heavily scripted.

Apple used to be a little more informal in some ways but now they have just as much corporate-speak as anyone.
