Too stodgy and corporate, and all of that for Craig to geek over drag & drop and multi finger gestures? Oh for the love of Steve.

That was more like watching a product demo on Kickstarter than a fully fledged Apple product.

If there's one thing I'd like to see is whether that extra USB-C port is a fully functional second I/O for the iPad. THAT would be game changing.

Not sure how the floating keyboard stand charges the iPad. Does it have wireless charging now? That would be huge for those of us who use iPads for Kiosks. We could then just have a wireless charging mount in the back with no wires, just a clean sheet of glass kiosk. I will buy a lot of these, if that's possible.

While a few people seem to imply this is a Surface killer, honestly I see this doing nothing but cannibalizing their own products. The lower-end Surface and Surface Go products are pretty stellar and at a good price point, and why would anyone buy a $300 keyboard to go along with a $799 iPad when they could get a Macbook Air? Would it be for touch alone? That seems very odd. Most people have a "computer" and "a portable device" or BOTH, but it's kind of excessive to expect all devices to be all things.

I can't help but feel that Apple wants to go "all in" on touch and is doing this kind of transition on purpose. but they're doing it in an inelegant fashion. Microsoft just happens to design hardware that supports what W10 can do, while Apple can own the ecosystem they're in but doing it in a way that feels like a total cash grab. You want a keyboard for your iPad? Sure, fork over $350 bucks. And people thought the $100 keyboard for the surface was bad...

I'm just saying that Surface can completely die out and it wouldn't really matter. Dell and others are already mimicing the design and that's just great. We have PCs with touch that do very similar to what iPad is attempting to do, and when they have full ARM availability, watch out.

Also floating screen is not at all better than an adjustable screen viewing angle. One viewing angle. One. Guys, really?

Does anyone see some sales cannibalization that may take place here? It's almost like there are now two AirPods Airs. One running macOS and one running iPadOS.

A great step forward. But iPad still lacks the apps.

photoshop is still barebones. Can’t do any after effects type editing. As a video editor who really doesn’t need a huge amount of power It doesn’t cut it for me - wish the tools and apps the the PC were more on iPad. I know it will come soon, and theipad has the power - but clearly not now.

iPad for gaming is awesome though.

Have been holding off on getting a new iPad for a while. Have a 10.5" one and think I will go big with the 12.9". That keyboard is sick. Hopefully it does not have the same issues as the original smart keyboard where it would tell you it isn't supported and stop working until you disconnected and reconnected.

This new trackpad functionality in iPadOS is exactly what it has needed to make the iPad Pro an EDC for me, and likely a lot of other people. I love the touch interface when I’m watching movies or videos or even the occasional game playing on the iPad Pro, but to do actual work (emails, spreadsheets, docs, proposals), for me at least requires the ability to quickly type and not have to take my hands away from the keyboard to interact with something on-screen. The new trackpad will make that possible, so it can’t come soon enough.

The other thing I like about the iPad compared to either my iMac or retina MBP (15”) is that the small form factor gives up nothing in screen resolution or the ability to increase the size of what I’m looking at on-screen.

When I switched from my MacBook Air 13” to the rMBP 15”, I loved the extra screen real estate and resolution, but they came at the price of weight and size I had to then lug around. With the 12.9” iPad Pro, I travel without the weight and can do pretty much everything I need for work. Plus I’ve recently started using it with the Pencil for notes taking for work, which has been transformative - especially being able to more easily look back at and look up specific notes, instead of having to remember which notebook I wrote something in (although I do feel bad giving up my beloved Field Notes notebooks, especially the wood covered ones I helped develop).

Look, this magic keyboard is awesome. No doubt. I'm just so frustrated by Apple.

The keyboard starts at $300. The iPad Pro starts at $800. That's $1,100 before tax for a compromised iPadOS laptop experience.

You are better off buying a laptop and a cheaper iPad.

Wish that they would make a similar case for the 1st and 2nd gen iPad Pro. I am hoping Logitech will expand their product line up with the cases they showed today.

Clrealry, he likes this :D

As do I

But the speed at which Apple has adapted to user response.

I think the cursor support is awesome but this magic keyboard comes with some big tradeoffs. First of all it only open 130 degrees so you can't fold the keyboard completely around and use the iPad in tablet mode on your lap - you will need to physically detach from keyboard. With the current keyboard you can do that (yes the keys are exposed on your lap/hand but it is still doable). I also often flip the keyboard all the way around prop on my desk like this "/\"to watch video when I don't want the keyboard - can't do that with this one and if you detach you can't prop.

But, but...a laptop doesn't "float"! Isn't that part of the $300 experience? ;)

I think they're being pretty tactical and filling a buyers segment for people who prefer an iPad, need better input handling for _some_ uses, and aren't in the market (even if just because of the aforementioned preference) for a notebook.

No, I had tried it with multiple browsers.

Now I just tried it again and it works??

Maybe you hit some stream allocation limit, took a few seconds to get one allocated after you were deferred (someone said they're using internal video provisioning vs. YT/Vimeo/etc.)
