The signs were obvious that you were putting yourself in a potentially dangerous situation and you decided to ignore those signs.
Still, that doesn't mean I deserved it, and hardly does it justify anything that happened. Yes, the signs were there that the laptop might be dysfunctional/flawed, however there was no way to predict he would steal my charger.
Eh. Looks like someone is selling a brand new 85W one on craigslist for 65. I'll bite.
He meant the signs before the meetup, such as Facebook, calling from a private number even though he claimed no phone, and contacting you through Facebook on the go.
Don't you learn? as soon as he pulled it out with no charger, walk away, say nothing. you are not the sharpest tool in the shed. and I would have told him i needed to go get the money out, not on me.
honestly, no pictures, no go. $500... its obviously stolen. maybe you should stay off craigslist. don't bite.
these days you can't trust anyone. at least now you know, and will probably carry some form of protection with you at all times. That's why I love virginia. Open carry law. because everyone speaks the same language staring down a barrel of a 45. in your case, maybe pepper spray or a taser.
I'm glad you did not get robbed, but have a little more sense please. and if you need back up, call me, I hate bullies and tuff guys.
Well if the OP is 2m tall and weighs 100 kilos, yes he shouldn't have let those guys take his charger.
But what if he's a 14 year old, skinny and short little guy? Would you have told those big guys to **** off and give your charger back? I don't think so.
You seriously didn't notice the irony?
The signs were obvious that you were putting yourself in a potentially dangerous situation and you decided to ignore those signs.
how do you know anything about the OP? how big is manny pacquiao? you gonna tell him to eff off?
this story seems entirely made up. but... you never know. op seems to believe it.

situational awareness failure at it's finest.
YDI.
Sorry to say it.
So once again, YDI.

All the things that happened (him not having a phone, nothing showing up on time, etc) indicates you should have left immediately.
When I read this, I was afraid that by the time I got to the bottom of the post that you would have been injured.
So once again, YDI.
What the hell were you thinking?
I don't deserve having something stolen. Are you saying that it's some sort of punishment? That's ridiculous. The $6 I wasted in commute I deserve. I would hardly consider my charger being stolen as "deserving".
1. create new facebook account
2. get a "burner"
3. contact the seller again with new facebook account and burner
4. bring police to meetup
5. ????
6. see kid get arrested
Hmm, I could try that. Not sure if that's something the police would agree to do. Is this something I would call 911 to arrange? Is 911 even the appropriate number to call if I want to report this incident?
I'm sorry but I can't have any empathy for you. Things sounded bad from the get go, yet you continued to follow red flag after red flag. This is Craigslist after all. I thought a situation like this would be common sense for folks, obviously not. Be thankful all you got jacked was your charger. It could've been a lot worse. Moaning on a forum will do no good for you except having a bunch of people tell you to think things through in the future.
