Then how come it's only a vocal minority complaining? It seems only a large number of tabs and many background apps cause this. Just open fewer tabs and it'll be fine.

I have seen Safari crashed with just few tabs. Not sure if this is memory related issue or just Safari? I can open many tabs with Atomic and I don't see any issue, not that I would open many tabs during normal usage. Your suggestion is to use less tab? that doesn't fix the issue.

No issues yet for me but Im sure the problems people are seeing are real. Its likely more app dependent or something along those lines. I was playing Real racing 2 last night and my Air was screaming right along. It never ran that good or looked that good onmy iPad 2, thats for sure.

Eventually Ill end up doing some heavier-duty work and then we'll see what happens.

To those experiencing crashes:- are you multitasking a lot with lots of browser tabs?

I never use more than 2 or three apps at any one time and have no more than about 3 browser tabs open either. Never seen a hint of a problem?

I usually only have 1 or 2 tabs open at the most. I don't think it's related to the number of tabs, but more what's going on in that page - i.e. Java, Facebook comments etc.

lol

yeah, just dont even use the ipad for what its made for! just stare at the home screen all day and you'll be fine! no crashes!

I have had a fair number of crashes since picking up my air on release day. Over the weekend I was pretty much unable to navigate iTunes without the iPad crashing. I haven't tried since. Safari started crashing a lot yesterday with no other apps open, and the tab refreshing was driving me nuts. While I love my Air, these little niggles have been frustrating.

Safari crashes pretty regularly on my 5s, my wife's 5s, and my new iPad Air. It damn annoying, to be sure.

is Chrome any better than Safari in regards to these crashes?

i'm surprised most people are using Safari anyway

My iPad Air has not crashed on Safari.

My Air has crashed 2 times in the last three days when in other apps. I've already logged just about 20 hours. The crashes seem to happen after prolong use, or at least it seems like it. Like I said, crashed twice in 20 working hrs. I think for now it has to do with the 64 bit chip with iOS issues with it, or maybe just iOS alone.

Mine is crashing also with Safari and certain websites... Is something like this device specific? Would a replacement help this or is it a design issue?

To make sure it's clear with what I said above, I'm quite happy with my iPad Air and it hasn't disappointed me! it's more iOS 7 I think that's the issue. But two crashes in 20hrs due to iOS 7 is not bad. Happy trails to those who haven't had any......Yet. I haven't experienced a 3rd crash yet and it's been about a day since my last one.

I believe it's iOS 7 my sons iPad 2 is crashing, my 4 is crashing and my new Air. Hope apple fixes soon.

A replacement might make a difference, but normally restoring a device can sometimes help/stop the malfunction(s)/bug(s) from causing the issue(s)

Agreed! ;)

Inacceptable for Apple.

Mine crashes often as well. At least the OS isn't freezing like it does on my 5s

I manage to reproduce the crash easily.

Open fresh Safari browser, go to apple.com. Add new tab, then go to apple.com, keep repeating it. On the fourth tab Safari will crash. It crashes my safari every time.

At the same time, I can open 25 tabs with Engadget.com in safari without any issue. The issue has got to do with page content.

Welcome to the party, pal!

My iPhone 5s looks just like this. But not one lowmem crash on my wife's iPhone 5 running iOS 7.

You are correct but why does Google Chrome also crash? Does that happen to you as well in a different browser?

This is not a solution for a phone that is suppose to just work. What if my phone crashes when making too many calls? Don't call as much? And now we're at the age when web browsing is just as important as a phone call

I saw the same problem on a iPad 2 after upgrading to IOS 7. Apple has some work to do to optimize IOS for iPad's. Call support and report this issues so they can logged and documented.

Make sure you have send to apple diagnostics set. They will get all the logs automatically

Who says its just a "vocal minority"? How would you even know?
