I have a Torras case with hinge protection on my Fold 7 (and I purchased insurance). Had my first ugly fall a few nights ago. Sounded terrible. Not a scratch!

Great to hear it kept it safe with no damage, I’m using a Thinborne slim carbon fiber although no hinge protection it helps avoid small scratches to sides.

Solution desperately searching for a problem.
Vision Pro, iPhone Air, iPhone Fold, Apple Fitness+... There's a run of products that seem to be solutions in search of problems.

Meanwhile, they solved a major problem with Apple Silicon, but have put zero effort into their pro apps like FCPX to take advantage of it.

The crease isn’t the issue.

It’s the soft plastic screen that is going to get wrecked by your finger nail or small bits of dust/debris.

Sorry but I ain’t paying even more money for a phone that is going to be ruined so easily. But hey at least you can just buy AppleCare…

I’ll stick to boring old iPhones with solid glass that I can put a glass screen protector on.
I've had my work provided fold 7 since launch, I am not easy with my phone, and the internal screen looks as new as the day I got it.

As an international traveler, I do not desire a gimmick cellphone when out in the "sticks" in African countries. A proven design is the current slab phone without lots of bells and whistles. All gimmicks disabled as there are no services for them in rural areas. One sees lots of "mature" flip phones from decades ago.....
I mean why not just pick up a cheap Trac / pay-as-you-go phone then and keep the folding phone tucked away until you’re settled down for the evening? The value of this has the ability to act as both an iPhone and iPad. So you have your compact practicality when you need it and enhanced media consumption / work device when you’re not on the go.

I suspect we’re still probably a decade out from this form factor being truly practical, but the idea of canabalizing the iPad sales with an expandable phone is a valid one.
