It is no worse than any other platform in that regard. Just because things are mainstream and popularly accepted doesn’t mean they are not also brainwashing. The ‘for you’ tab algorithm will certainly lead you down some crazy rabbit holes if you allow it, but I’d far rather be my own curator than have an unknown black box with government and big corporation pressure deciding behind the scenes what I should and shouldn’t be exposed to.Using X/twitter un-curated is pure madness and will open yourself up to full blown brainwashing. The worst is the ‘for you’ tab. Just use, ’following’ and create your own list.

Yet.Bluesky feels a lot like the old twitter. No ads, no content farms being boosted on my for you feed, no twitter blue users spamming replies to make money off engagement.
People who prefer more censorship and moderation of content and speech. And to some degree, people who feel bad since the election. What's driving the push to other social media services?
This post has a strong odor of “brought to you by the staff at Bluesky” to it.I'm enjoying Bluesky. There is no algorithm, so you don't get unwanted content shoved down your throat. You only see what you want. And the platform offers awesome moderation tools, so you are in control. The user base is now growing at a pace of 1 million new users a day, and the MacRumors account has gained around 6k new followers in a few days. On the MacRumors account, the engagement level is arguably higher than on any other microblogging platform. Everywhere actually. The engagement is very high because your posts actually get exposed.
The Verge has some cool how-tos for the newbies on Bluesky:

Lately it’s the latter. There’s a lot of rage directed at Elon, so the spike in the last couple weeks is, essentially, a boycott of X because it’s his company.People who prefer more censorship and moderation of content and speech. And to some degree, people who feel bad since the election.
I can't understand why all people are fleeing from Twitter. It seems in these days it is a political statement to use or not use certain networks. Doesn't it make more sense though to join the networks that are full of people who do NOT share your views? There your own views will have a much bigger impact. Why share your views with people who already share your views?
I miss Adium *so* much. Just recently went to go see if any work had been done on it. It's open source, but last activity was 3 years ago: https://github.com/adium/adiumSingular apps supporting multiple networks is a fine idea ... remember Adium for Mac?
But crossposting is ripe for abuse.
You are probably making people mad....When you don’t want to use the largest social media network but want to smear your stuff across three lesser ones, this is the app for you!
That’s true, people often vilify the most successful companies and people, putting them under the moral microscope, believing only the negative, never acknowledging any good, while angel-ifying and assuming the best about underdogs. People love underdogs… until they become too successful.Largest may also mean evil. You decide.
You are probably making people mad....
I don’t think you really addressed the post you responded to. It made two claims about the type of people who left X, not why they left. After you said that’s false, you explained why they left but didn’t explain how you know the two claims were false. (Whether the claims are true or false I have no idea)This is false. People are leaving because of how significantly bad Twitter as a platform has become, including taking away or reducing the significance of a feature, such as basically rendering the block feature useless by changing it to where users can still see your posts and everything even if you have them blocked. There are other reasons but I can’t go into them without getting political.
The owner of Twitter is also, quite frankly, an absolute jerk of a person.
You probably misplaced Facebook (controlled by one very rich person) with X which is owned by a rich person but not controlled. Actually you can say whatever you want there, if not against the law it is not censored (contrary to all other major platforms and former Twitter that are/were removing content based on government request or platform management political leaning). X code is open source for you to see if you believe it is manipulated in some way directed by someone you disagree with in something. It's not about sharing your views with people who share your own opinion. It's about using a platform with an algorithm that is not controlled and manipulated by one single person. It's about choosing for a decentralized internet instead of dancing to the rhythm of a guy who happens to have an obscene amount of money.
Block feature used to operate exactly like this before ~2021.This is false. Masterful gambit, sir.You probably misplaced Facebook (controlled by one very rich person) with X which is owned by a rich person but not controlled. “The old Twitter” - the one that was run per the orders of the FBI and other state security agencies to suppress speech and manipulate the political discourse. Wow, sounds great!Bluesky feels a lot like the old twitter. No ads, no content farms being boosted on my for you feed, no twitter blue users spamming replies to make money off engagement.
