Apple is really showing everyone “Apple knows and can do gaming”

where are all those gamers who doubted Apple over the decades now?!?!?

Come on, Apple Arcade, we want better games!
Apple believes these are better games.

We know the real solution is allowing multiple stores on Apple iOS/TV devices and allowing customers freedom to buy and install what they want from elsewhere.

if Steam, GOG etc… where allowed it would pretty much be the end of Apple’s App Store/Arcade when it comes to gaming.

Will Apple ever release multiplayer for Apple TV? I'm trying to get my wife into games but we can't play against each other at the same time.

I really dislike this genre of "endless" games. I love Frogger, but I hate Crossy Road. Yes, Frogger goes on forever, but clearing a screen feels like an accomplishment. This game just feels like an inevitable grind towards failure.
I can share this sentiment. They're fun for bit, but the novelty wears off. It's not as bad if you can leave the game, and resume from where you left off (even if the game leaves RAM), but they really need more incentives to keep me in (and not just shallow achievements like "take 10,000 steps)

I remember prior to the ATV4 and tvOS being announced, there were rumors of a "console killer" Apple TV being tested, with graphic capabilities better than Xbox 360.

When the ATV4 was launched, I was very sadden that the game Apple used to display the gaming abilities of their new device was Crossy Road. Yeah, it might be fun, but it would have been nice to have something more.

Between that, the underpowered (for gaming) A8, Siri Remote requirement, and tiny 200MB static app size limit, Apple killed any gaming momentum tvOS.

While Apple walked back on those silly decisions later, the damage was done.

Now, developers don't seem to give a crap about tvOS, as support for it has been dropping like crazy. Apple doesn't seem to care about it either, so why should the developers.

Yeah, sounds about right.
As someone who checks in every few months or so about Apple news (and TBH, I've been this way with other tech, even if less so), I did miss this piece, but I was never expecting Apple to be serious when it comes to the gaming arena. Just like how creative types are strongly encouraged to get a Mac, gamers are strongly encouraged to get a console or PC for gaming.

Does that mean that the version I've had installed for over 6 years will suddenly disappear?
If the developer decides they don’t want to offer that version anymore. However, it seems that most developers like having the two separate revenue streams.

The real solution is for people to stop acting like mobile gaming is anyway the same as console gaming. It doesn’t matter if it can play crysis if the game isn’t completely reworked for touchscreen. On screen joycons are terrible and the average person is going to haul an Xbox controller with them.
