Has anyone been able to upgrade the firmware with no DVD drive on a mac mini?

I replaced my hard drive with the crucial m4, and of course there is no dvd drive in the 2011 mini.
I was hoping that there is some kind of thumb drive solution, without having to dual boot into windows.

Help a newbie...

Quick question if you would be so kind.

When updating the firmware from the ISO (burnt CDR), is there any risk of it wiping the HD?

I'm currently on 0309 firmware and I'm experiencing beachball for 20-30 seconds randomly and every time I'm doing too many things at once.

I'd like to know this as well. I'm on an early 08 macbook pro (thats most of the time feels much faster than the 2011 imac at work, thanks to the ssd) with a broken optical drive and no windows.

Hi guys! I am desperate with my M4 on my MBP. I removed my Superdrive to install the M4 and I can't update the firm because I can't do it via USB. I tried to use USB way with refit and syslinux but it is not working. Anyone knows how can I do it?? External drive is working?
Thanks!
