Just reading the thread title made me throw up in my mouth a little bit.™

Really, that's just disgusting, speaking as someone who's seen a couple. *blech*

Next time can you do us all a favor and NOT USE SUCH BIG LETTERS?

I don't know can I?

Next time, why don't you do everyone else and me a favor and not use such large letters when yelling at someone for no apparent reason.

"Chill" -Remember?

How stupid can Cruise be? Now the Church of Scientology has bestowed their highest level of honour (Grand Poobar or something) which means he is supposed to have met the level of enlightenment and can even cure his own illnesses. Does this man not realise the sham here?

He's an arrogant, over paid, stereotyped (bad) actor and should keep his religious beliefs to himself.

Here is an example: A person is stung by a bee at an early age. Immediately the reactive mind begins to record everything that is going on. The color of the bee, the feeling of being stung, the disappointment and crying, his mother's voice saying "What happened?" and other things going at the time are all recorded.

Later on in life, whenever that person sees a bee he feels sad, afraid and is reminded of the pain of being stung. It is caused by the reactive mind. As are many other irrational phobias.

Personally, I think the things that hurt us make us wiser. This so-called "reactive mind" is a good thing as it boils down to the application of accumulated knowledge. Sheltering a child from negative experiences in early life leads to a weaker adult.

At one point the reactive mind was very helpful. The problem is that we've moved on from the primitive periods of hunting and gathering food. The reason the reactive mind isn't a good thing is because it affects your thinking involuntarily and causes irrational behavior.

Commands recorded during an incident influence thinking when you are reminded of it (IE: you will do or think whatever the command is). Phobias, strange sexual fetishes, OCD are all caused by the reactive mind. People normally have no control over it.

I note how you list all the types of involuntary behaviour that you perceive as being negative. However, I still think our instincts have an enormous bearing on how we survive even in these so-called civilised times. We sometimes simply don't have time to logically process information before acting on it, so the positive side of this "reactive mind" you describe is saving numerous lives every day. Humans are a balance between the animal and the logical. Why should we deny one half of ourselves, especially when that half is the part that brings us closer to our place in nature?
