The Councilwoman needed to realise that millions of people will see that.

I don't believe for a second that she doesn't realize that. She just tried asking and, unfortunately(?), got nothing. Even though "free wifi" seems such a stupid thing to ask for. Besides that... the current wifi technology is very limited and not designed for city wide use. You need to install so many transmitters, that is just a waste of money if you ask me.

I don't even understand why the council consists of Asia-born people who have "English as their third language". Honestly, the council looks like the Apple KIRF headquarter or some subsidiary of Foxconn.
You have no clue how racist — or at the very least, xenophobic — that comment is, do you?

She pressed the issue. When steve first answered her question she then asked for him to be more specific and suggested wifi. She wasn't joking she was being greedy.

One of the cases of.. let's ask, and if all else fails, just say it was an "inside joke."

I like SJ's determination on his negative answer.:p

So don't for a freakin' millisecond think they don't owe us anything. Innovation can still exist without extreme financial gain - heck, who was the first man in space...

Yuri Gagarin, cosmonaut of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics...

Also, I'm actually very far from republican, but the idea that corporations inherently owe us something above and beyond their taxes goes against the basic principles of a free-market based society... the fact that your proof of innovation outside the free-market required you to turn to the USSR, which killed at least 20,000,000 people under the great innovator Stalin, is just plain sad.

Thanks for proving my point...

Btw... Bernie Madoff... really? He broke the law, he was the mastermind of a ponzi scheme, which defrauded investors with no benefit whatsoever. What's the analogy to corporations like Apple?

Wifi question not as dumb as fire safety question

I also don't think she meant that as a joke...she is just covering up her misstep.

Sure, she looked dumb BUT WHERE IS THE THREAD ABOUT THE COUNCILMAN WHO ASKED IF THE BUILDING WOULD CONFORM TO THE SAFETY CODE?

He literally asked if it would conform to safety regulation, like fire.

skip to 15:45 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P95HSkeLsmc

A better way for him to ask it would have been to say something like: Steve, you said that this building will be unlike any other office building made. While I know it is our final responsibility to be sure that the building conforms to fire codes that, to this point, were made without considering a building of this unique nature. Can you tell us what safety consideration you and your team have made thus far?

See, open ended question, not 'will safety be put into consideration' (what a moron)

Yea, I guess if his name was "nontaxpayinguneducatedcluelessLEMMING" he would be a democrat.

Don't forget the fruit trees!

screw the free wi-fi that would be an amazing public park

Nope. Jobs does not want anyone touching his precious fruit trees!

Also, most of the people that would be using the park if it was open would be spies from China and MS.
