Thats already been debunked by Anand at Anandtech. Too bad OWC feels they have to slime competitors instead of just making a better product. I and several people I know have had customer service issues with OWC so this makes me even less disposed to buy anything else from them.

Yep. Article here.

Relevant quote from Anand:

Unless OWC has done some specific testing on this NAND to show that it's unfit for use in an SSD, I'm going to call this myth busted.

Good links guy's, but I don't understand if the X25 is still on sale on Amazon how come the OP is saying he can't find anywhere that sells them???

For anyone interested the Intel 320 120Gb is on sale at New Egg for $209.

I ordered a 750GB 7200 rpm drive for my 2011 MBP to put in the optical bay but I' can't make up my mind what SSD to get. i don't want to experiment or deal with issues.

I test drove Intel 320 160gb in my MBP for a day (now in desktop) and it has no issues whatsoever with sleep, hibernation, TRIM hack. Highly recommended if you are not a bench whore.

Are you sure you want to be putting a 7200rpm drive in the unibody MBP? They aren't that great at cooling to begin with, and a toasty HD won't help matters, even if it is in the Optibay :)

Apple have themselves been offering 7200rpm hard drives as an option on it's laptops for years mate. Never had any heat issues with mine for the last 4 years :)

I don't know why you think this could be an issue.

Not saying it's a huge issue, just that macbook pros are known for running little hot under load, especially the new Sandy Bridge designs with their increased TDP. Adding a 7,200rpm drive over 5,400rpm drive won't help matters, as a 7,200rpm drive typically generates more heat.

Its minimal on modern drives.

I ordered the Intel 320 from New Egg btw.
