Because your blinders are keeping you from seeing the ugly truth.
Apple is the new Jim Jones.

You assume I have blinders on and that I'll follow Apple wherever they lead. That is, as it turns out, a completely incorrect assumption.

So, since you're so clear-thinking on the topic, please edify me. What is the ugly truth? And please answer in a way that uses genuine thoughts instead of clichés and a sequence of logic that can be followed instead of leaps of logic that are known only to you. (This, technically, is the third time I've asked, BTW.)

Not only that but our society is addicted to credit and buying things they can't afford. Very few people will want their purchases taken directly out of their checking account.

Just was a Trader Joe's (I'm not sure how many states have them. I just know that there are some in California and Michigan). They're a specialty grocery store with somewhat exotic/healthy/low cost items. I asked if they took Apple Pay. This cashier actually knew what it was and he said he just set up his phone for it yesterday and was anxious to try it. But Trader Joe's doesn't have NFC terminals.

He asked about my experiences and another cashier, who wasn't busy, came over. they were both really interested. One said, "Walmart won't take it." I explained about CurrentC and having health data and your social security number, bank account, etc in the cloud. He made a face and said: "Ah, no."

I tried it at Macy's today and all the employees had been trained so they knew what it was. In the two departments I used it in, I was the first to use it in THEIR experience. Not in the store or with other employees, of course.

In the first department the woman called over another employee to watch me do it.

At McDonalds they had already experienced it so they weren't excited.

Home Depot, the person manning the self checkout said that no one ever uses their phone to pay. I slid my card and the symbol for NFC popped up. No one was behind me or even anywhere around so I hit cancel and tried Apple Pay. No dice. The screen said, "declined. Choose another method of payment." I slid the same card and it worked.

I tried at PetSmart but no NFC readers. The employee said new terminals were coming but she didn't know if they would allow Apple Pay. I think I remember PetSmart being one of Apple's partners for later rollout. The Petco that's live with Apple Pay now is not convenient for me. In fact, I usually shop at Pet Supplies Plus, which may only have Michigan stores so maybe they won't ever partner with Apple. I haven't tried them yet though.

Headed to CostCo tomorrow. Maybe only AmEx Apple Pay works? We'll see. I'll try another first and then AmEx if that fails.

My last experiment will be at Krogers. Not all have the same equipment. My guess is that they will be a CurrentC member if anything.

I am lucky that I don't buy gas often but, the next time I do, I'll see if BP works with Apple Pay either at the pump or in store. I don't have any Exxon stations anywhere near me. I think they're an Apple Pay partner. Anyone know of any other gas stations that work with it?

As long as its PCI-DSS compliant people will store as much as they can, Apple included. Whether "they" store it or their vendor does, it doesn't matter. Its all in the way you market the product right! :)

Apple Pay is great BTW I just hate how people on this website acts as Parrots.

I suggest you stop trying to sound so smart and stating facts. If you want to make it here you need to make baseless statements and hate those that use the OS you don't.

LMFAO - how could anyone be so stupid to even sign up to this!

The UK just watches across the water with absolute amusement; totally bemused that anyone actually thought this was a good idea.

Because what I am showing you is the folly in the ideology that a companies email is hacked therefore their processing system is faulty. When Apple gets hacked its the users bad passwords but with CurrentC its because they are stupid failures.

You seem to have a vested interest in convincing us that CurrantC is a secure payment system and we should all trust them with our SSN, and bank access. I'm sure that the day before any of these data breaches were discovered the people responsible for them would also have assured us of their secure status. The main point is I'm not trusting this information with anyone I don't have to trust with it and I don't have to trust anyone who doesn't already have this information to use Apple Pay.

On Monday I posted online feedback to CVS as a customer and a shareholder regarding my rejected Apple Pay incident over the weekend, and I included some of the complaints about the CurrentC proposals. It would have been even stronger after this incident. The reply back from customer service said they are "in the process of evaluating mobile payment options for our customers," and they would be sharing the feedback with their supervisors.

This tweet was just sent out by Martyn Williams

@martyn_williams Bizarre conference call setup by MCX, CurrentC developer. Media sends questions in messages, moderator asks = no follow ups

Bitcoin is never going to be a mainstream form of payment. It will always be a niche, unless somebody can figure out a way to mainstream it and make it easy for somebody like my mom to use.

well as of right now. bitcoin is more mainstream than apple pay is. bitcoin is accepted in more places around the world than apple pay. so it may never be err mainstream but so far it's in the lead. and it's more secure.

Not in the U.S. :)

Kick CurrentC out of the Apple Store and Google Play

Not sure if this has been said or not, but if Apple and Google really wanted to screw CurrentC they could just not allow its app in their stores. Play their game, you kick us out we kick you out. I guess there's always Windows Phone users though, all 100 of them.

That's not the whole story...

Apple had a design flaw in the password recovery via answering questions. There was no counter to limit tries or lock this function after multiple failed attempts.

It doesn't help when celebrities answer the questions honestly and toy can do a web search to find the answer. I don't think it's a flaw:
1. don't use real answers
2. use the 2 step verification so the need to answering the questions are not needed

This is all user error.

Exactly, by definition, we have had cloud tech since at least the 80s

I just received a Chip & PIN debit card from Bank of America. Worked at Walmart.

Too little too late as I entered the card into Apple Pay too.

MCX members can accept credit cards, including the ones with the chip, they just can't do it contactless using NFC.
