Clerks will now be offering free credit monitoring service with each purchase using CurrentC. :p

Oh yes, such security. If you want me to use your junk service and have direct access to my bank account, you better damn well protect everything.

OH I was wondering how long this would take.... you know "the hackers" that are ticked about this just painted a big ole bullseye on MCX/CurrentC.

This won't be the last i'm guessing, and personally i'm wondering if the other members are going to be attacked too. In fact I have been mentally going down the list wondering what I used where on the list and trying to see what I might have to watch.

I detest hacking - but having worked in the computer room so long... I know it will happen.

Am I bad for wanting hackers to hack the hell out of this crap app?!

Well, if they hack it meaning that they get access and get no valuable info, then you're not bad.
If they get info, then there is a big problem, and the last thing we want as a society is more id theft...

GOOD! I hope CVS and Rite Aid take note. Dropped ApplePay for CurrentC and now the good name (if it ever had one) of CurrentC is being smeared due to it's lack of security....which is supposed to be the whole reason of doing mobile payments in the first place. :p

This thing isn't even dead in the water—it's dead in the dry dock! This thing has no chance of taking off. Hackers are going to be hitting this thing like crazy since they can't even touch Apple Pay and the device secure token system.

Call security!

When CurrentC has to safeguard nothing but email address from trial users, it failed. Please roll out the program and start losing bank account number and SSN. I am sure that's what they will do beautifully. :D

Also, without you using your credit cards, how would one establish his/her credit score? From debit cards?

Dude, it's like we're sitting back and watching the Stupid Companies Comedy Hour.

I wonder how long until CVS and RiteAid and the others realize this is making them look bad, and reinstate NFC payments.

While everyone else focus on security. Secure enclave etc. CurrentC does a cloud based solution. It's gonna be a hacking magnet.

CurrentC, you are the weakest link! Goodbye!

When I read the extent of the personal information that CurrenC will require including drivers license and SSN I thought, a) I don't want MCX to have it in order to shop at these places and b) what a huge, juicy target for hackers. Given that MCX is not in the "software business" per se, I'm even less confident.

You can ask President Obama to order the DOJ to investigate MCX for potentially illegal anti-competitive collusion between merchants by signing the petition here:

https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/pe...ing-anti-competitive-collusion-among/Ms9VCP9y

Short version for sharing on social networks: http://wh.gov/icBmj

You can also email the DOJ directly at: AskDOJ@usdoj.gov

What they are doing seems fishy to me because MCX is a shell company owned by the participating merchants. Indeed they tout themselves as the "only merchant-owned mobile commerce network". Take that fact and the exclusivity agreement forbidding competing services and you have what looks very much like collusion between otherwise competing merchants. I for one would like the DOJ to look into these contracts between MCX and the merchants and determine if there is anything illegal going on.

CurrentC = DOA These guys are a joke made up by a bunch of greedy retail giants. Apple Pay will have the last laugh.
