Who in the world was in charge of naming the Apple Watch Edition. Am I the only one who thinks that is the dumbest name anyone could possibly come up with?

I dreamt about the Apple Watch Edition last week. In the dream an Apple insider told me what the missing word before "Edition" was supposed to be before they dropped it. And it sounded even dumber than leaving it out. But then I woke up and forgot what the word was. :(

Yeah I think there will be people showing up all over the place at Apple stores trying to buy the watch. Little do they know...They will get a whole lot of nada.

Haha yeah that's true kinda weird name..I think it was that broad they hired from Burberry, I don't think she is going to last very long...Go back to selling purses...

Are there any places in Missouri selling it? I'm really tempted to go get in line in the morning lol.

Whoa dude. That’s rough :(

Yeah, was scary. Hopefully this weekend is better. Writing on my iPhone now so the "y" works haha. My team puts on our biggest event of the year on Saturday, which is an outdoor charity event for the food bank and it's looking like it's going to be very stormy. Need to go buy rain covers for my lenses. Hopefully I don't ruin any gear. After today it seems likely that would happen. Or get hit by lightning while on the media boat. Not sure which would be worse! :p

C'mon at least it's not Limited Edition.

Maybe it was going to be the Limited Edition, but they ended up changing it since they did not want to dilute the brand of the high-end model by confusing it with the space gray Sport with black band?

I'm sure we could come up with a dumber name. Apple Midas watch, apple watch elitist, Apple watch tool time, Apple watch Bling bling

Well, this should be an interesting weekend in Apple managements lives. Although I am an admitted fanboy, I am looking forward to what marketing poke Samsung or Google give them for this mess.

LOL waiting in line for something that's going to be heavily discounted within months. This thing is a bomb.

What mess? Selling in one day more watches than all other makers combined in nearly a year? Best thing they could do is lay low and work on their own ****** products.

I for one enjoyed the days of waiting in line ... KNOWING I would get my device on actual launch day. I even enjoyed pre-ordering and having the option to pick-up from the store.

How did you know you would get the device? Only way has been pre-ordering online. Last time I waited in line Ipad 1 and the store only got 25. I think online only give Apple a better way to serve the customer and not have to control the lines.

The days of waiting in line is over.

Line in front of "the corner" in Berlin :D
My optimism is gone:D

pre ordered

I pre ordered within 20 min and I still have a june del date, I am over seas (military) and it takes a month to get mail where I am at. I am thinking about canceling my order and going with another product ( fitbit and pebble ). They said that they would only have them online but they have them in some stores. not right for the people who ordered them online.

I'm confused. Isn't maxfield an extremely high end boutique? I wouldn't be surprised if maxfield will only sell to customers that have a card with them or if most of these watches are already reserved for their best clients.

Boy when Angela finds out these low-lifes are outside her store she gonna be pretty pissed!
Time to bring out the water cannons.

Customers Lining Up At Boutiques Carrying Apple Watch Ahead of Launch

It is kind of.
They sell stuff from Balmain Rick Owens etc.
Pretty expensive clothes that cost 1500 for a hoodie, etc. I think Balmain jeans cost around 900, if I remember correctly.
It definitely doesn't match this store's demographic to have people lining up to buy this gadget.

Update from Berlin
Everyone hast fo try the watch before purchase, even if you know what model you would like to buy!! Bad customer experience!!!
Only 5 to 6 People can go in the store at the same time

There will be lots of disappointment today I guess. Not everybody followed and analyzed Apples latest memos, video messages, etc to know there's no Apple Watch to buy in retail stores on that massively promoted day...Well, at least not in any Apple retail store... the tragedy.

This is really bad

I have been condemning people rambling on about this new type of launch and targeting the new head of retail.
But this... This is just bad. Really really bad. And they should have seen this coming..
Those people lining up that won't be able to get the watch will be terribly bad press and possibly non returning customers.

Well, the mid range watch with link costs $1050, so it is in the ballpark. They're probably getting great media exposure out of it; probably the reason they decided to do this.

Los Angeles MAXFIELD UPDATE!

I was working UBER and had a client who got dropped off close by, so I drove on by, the line is about 40 people deep, not that bad actually... but from what I read, you have to have a maxfield card to purchase anything; so if this is true, hopefully everyone in line knows that. Also, from the information found around the web from other "boutiques" they won't carry Space Grey / Black of any model. So hopefully no one's hoping for that.

BTW need an UBER code, use mine: AAY89 - < Selfish promotion! :p

Since when has it been compulsory to try something out before making a purchase?

Oh, since Apple Store employees said so. Ok.

Yeah. I understand an occasional cockup. Nobody's perfect, right?

But this was cockup, followed by denial, followed by more bad decisions, followed by (an attempted) PR coverup, like they planned all this.

At least take ownership and admit you blew it.

Yeah most other companies would kill for a cock up like this :)
