What mess? Selling in one day more watches than all other makers combined in nearly a year? Best thing they could do is lay low and work on their own ****** products.

I think when we step back from our fandom and look at the landscape we can see that, yes, it is going to be a good product as are all of Apple's other products.

The reasonable person though would also look at the "culture" of releases and understand that the excitement of a launch day is better when it's real and not virtual. Whether some wish to admit it or not, Apple has done a disservice to a portion of the culture that got them here.

Today Apple french kissed the 1% and ignored the rest of us.

Cannot disagree with this. And they cannot disagree that they were called on this two weeks ago and did nothing to prevent people who aren't plugged into enthusiast sites like this one from showing up and waiting for something they couldn't have.

Embarrassing to be frank.

I have confirmation from Apple receiving my order at 4 minutes past 5pm (when the ordering process started), yet I have to wait 6 weeks for my watch.

F..k off Apple!

Ordered mine 2 minutes after they first went on sale and as of today...STILL processing my order. WTF!

The problem is that there was obviously such a huge uncertainty with demand of the various product mixes and overall demand, that going to the stores would have been a huge mess were no one would have been happy. Possibly 75% of people going to stores would have had nothing at all. ThaT's pretty bad press just there.

hey Apple, what have you learned from this?

Should you have 10x more stock available for any future apple products at launch day?

Yes.

...or... Was this all on purpose to create some extra hype? Backfiring no?

I feel this was a poorly planned and excecuted launch, but not sure how they "abandonded the rest of us"?

Which "1%" did they french kiss?
Having no other retail channel besides 5 or 6 ultra swanky boutiques worldwide is a complete fan snub and a tongue bath for the wealthy who will tire of the watch the moment they find out why it doesn't continue to adore them right out of the box.

There was no uncertainty. Every single product they have ever built has opened in the store on opening day and done very well. Some models and types selling out the first day.

They blew it. Plain and simple.

The Aussies were probably just queuing for try ons. In Sydney, Australia, try ons began in the morning of the 10th, but the online preorders opened at 5pm. So Australians could actually go to a store and try the watch before buying.
