and ray tracing on the M3 and M4
turning on ray tracing on my M4 Max Studio, dropped my FPS from 60 to 30. The game isn't playable at 30FPS. RT is not really feasible on the Mac yet.

On my PC running 7800XT with RT on and FSR enabled, I get around 70 FPS

Did you see how this game looks on Windows at max settings or with mods? Go watch a YouTube video and comment after. Stop being a fanboy and be realistic for once.
I mean COME ON... you can't compare the raw power of a GPU vs internal GPU of Apple Silicon... I love my Mac, but for playing video games, I wan't a dedicated GPU crunching my polygons. However, the good thing Apple Silicon brings to the table is that I don't doubt that sometime in the future it will catch up... that is my hope. But until then I got a PC with 64gb ram and a 50** GPU for running games like this.

Imagine waiting five years (five years) to play this game just so you could be an Apple purist. Boggles the mind.

Indeed. Very rough launch, and kudos for them figuring that out—a lot of other studios would've bailed. It grew into a great game.

Price is only an issue if you buy on the App Store, which is literally the worst way to source applications for the Mac anyway.
Well, it also just came out on Switch 2 as well. I’m finally tempted to get it on Switch 2 *and* Steam - have the best of all worlds with portable, cross platform saves, and can play on my Mac mini or gaming rig.

As someone who never played it, there’s so many options now!

US$ 20.99 for Xbox.
US$ 17.49 for PS4/PS5.
That's only the prices for the base game without the additional campaign Phantom Liberty. You need to compare the Ultimate Editions

US $39.99 for xbox (currently on sale for $40 off)
US $70.99 for Playstation

Hopefully this is a start of more AAA titles on the Mac. We need Apple to keep pushing the GPU speeds of base AS Macs or come up with an AS eGPU dock for people who wan to push the limits of Mac gaming.

Don't get it for the Switch 2, the game melts the console. Literally. In fact its so badly ported that even with the Switch 2 in cradle mode it melts the cradle.

The list of reports on this on Reddit is ridiculous.

My own Dock melted when I ran it, I had to send it to Nintendo.

I just installed it from Epic Store to my Macbook Pro M4 48/4TB. It runs smooth as silk on a 4k monitor. But the gameplay... I don't know. Driving physics feel much better in GTA. The game won't let me go far off the road before going black and dropping me closer to the road. GTA has no such restrictions on where you can go. I tried to run up a small inclined rock to make the car go into the air, but instead the car stops like it hits a wall.

What apple needs to do is pair Apple Silicon with a REAL GPU. Until Apple Silicon doesn't pair up to dedicated GPU's like Nvidia's or AMD's, this is always going to be an issue.

The first time they said Apple Silicon matched Nvidia, I didn't believe it, sure it can run Vampire Survivors just fine, but when you throw a game like Cyberpunk, you see your Mac ask for forgiveness in its knees.

I don't know who runs the Gaming Dept at Apple, but I would gladly tell them it sucks as bad as Siri's AI makeover.

That's because the Physics engine is not rendering properly on the Mac. When you run this on a PC you really see the game shine.

Really :0 good to know…

I can’t find anything on it on Reddit, do you have a link? Search on Reddit is atrocious

"Mac gaming is a joke. There are no triple A games."

[Developer releases triple A game for Mac]

"Don't buy the new triple A game for Mac. It's a crappy port that's not even optimized."

[Developer releases fully optimized port (e.g. Cyberpunk) and/or first-class day & date release(e.g. AC Shadows)]

"Don't buy the fully-optimized triple A game for Mac. It's too expensive/a few years old/runs better on other hardware you probably don't own."

[Developer stops releasing triple A games for Mac due to lack of sales.]

[Self-fulfilling cycle repeats]

"The title requires macOS 15.5 or later, as well as 92GB of storage when downloaded from GOG, Epic Games Store, or Steam, and 149GB of storage when downloaded from the Mac App Store. "

Weird. Why does the App Store / App Store version require so much more storage than when you buy it from other stores? This is actually a disincentive to use the App Store.

so from looking into it that price is base game plus dlc. steam still has the base game at $60

They both go on sale periodically - at least a couple times per year. I bought it on Steam to play on GeForce NOW earlier this year when it was discounted, and today I can download the Mac version for free since it's now cross platform!

"(ix) Apps must contain all language and localization support in a single app bundle."

The pricing omg.
This is exactly why Mac gaming will always be a joke.

Well, the joke's on you for not doing a simple search or reading the previous posts. $37.59 on GOG right now is not expensive. It's on sale on Epic too. It's literally mentioned in the article. The base game and Phantom Liberty cost only $20 each separately. Goes frequently on sale. It's also the exact same "high" price on Steam for PC when it's not on sale.

Same exact price on Steam for Windows:

Regarding games that require powerful enough hardware like cyberpunk 2077, and just technology/consumer electronics and video games in general, I wish Ubisoft Steep would come to the new Nintendo switch 2. It was planned for the original switch but didn't make it and now that the switch 2 is more powerful, I wish they'd release it or similar games like Shredders and or riders republic for switch 2. There is a game called descenders which seems a bit similar in soul. I feel like I wasted money on grand mountain adventure which I should have put toward descenders. Also, id like these types of games to have split screen local free roam.
