Bluargh! I shudder at the mere thought! Why, i doubt even dwarves could stomach that.

But alas, Master Frostbeard, now that you mention it, i do seem to recall that indeed one of our lady companions did in fact express the desire for a wolf's hide blanket, to counter the chill nights of our northern climate.
And winter is coming, after all.

I must confess however, that my formal education has not included a great deal of time spent on practicalities such as tanning and the like.
But i would surmise it was always part of the training of the enlisted military man such yourself, is it not?
And I am sure Master Fletcher would be delighted to lend a hand in the enterprise, you know, with his extraordinary woodsman's folksy skills​

I think that the nature of our quest may preclude any delays of the sort required to craft a blanket - however snug - from a wolf hide. For now, I'll elect to forego that particular pleasure, kind though it is of the Count to suggest it.

I have no confidence Veit will hit the elusive wolf so Portia (@Moyank24) should get ready if Veit misses. It will be pretty sad if we all miss this round forcing the Count to kill the wolf next round.

i see a perfect Mage Hand application!

EDIT: i checked, a warhammer is about 8 pounds. a dwarf warhammer probably a little less, as it has a shorter shaft, so Mage Hand could easily lift it out of the water and deliver it to Veit 🙂

Portia had used ranged, so she wouldn't be engaged. right now it is just me and Veit who are next to the wolf. If we were to just move away from the wolf (without disengaging first), i think it should get an Opportunity Attack.
i couldn't use disengage, move AND retrieve the hammer, because that would be two actions (disengage and retrieve hammer) in one turn

if portia kills the last wolf, then the turn-based part ends and anyone can do whatever they want, including go and fetch the hammer. if she fails, then Syllin can kill the wolf, or retrieve the hammer, magically or not in her turn. if by magic, she can just deliver it into Veit's hand in a single turn!

i assume ravenvii meant we have a round to recover the hammer, starting from Veits turn, which thus include attempts by you and me, but not Veit himself

why on Faerun would you want to walk to the exit, get into the stream, muck around, find the heavy hammer (which would be less than 8 pounds, as mentioned above), get soaked and walk all the way back to give it to Master Frostbeard, when you can just hocus-pocus there, with no effort?

Ah, Count Lochaber, I have absolutely no intention whatsoever of heading to the exit, splashing into the stream, and what you have so eloquent described as "mucking around" in that same stream while fishing about for and trying to retrieve a war hammer.

I merely asked the weight of the war hammer because there are limitations - limitations of both distance and weight - when applying the particular version of what you deem 'hocus-pocus' that may be most efficacious and effective in this situation.

Washing in a pristine waterfall (or sylvan glade, or rippling stream - the sort of stuff we Elves have long been used to) is quite one thing. "Mucking about" in the eloquent words of Count Lochaber, in a stream of already rather doubtful quality (we are discussing goblins, and their often questionable attitudes to matters of basic personal hygiene, after all) are quite another.

Were we to consider having to use that stream for such a purpose, my recommendation would that we move further upstream in order to undertake our ablutions. But not downstream under any circumstances, for reasons that should already have been quite clear.

How far is that hammer - does it lie within the 30 metres within which I can cast the Mage Hand cantrip successfully?

Secondly, how heavy is the war hammer thing? In other words, is it under the 10lb weight that the cantrip is limited to being able to lift?

Thirdly, am I required to wait until my turn to cast this, or am I free to do so independently - and spontaneously - of the others?

The warhammer is only 2 lb, so yes it's *way* below the threshold for your hocus pocus 🙂 You'll have to wait for your turn, but as the turns occur essentially simultaneously, if you go for the hammer after Portia attacks (or something), it won't be materially further than where it is right now.
