You're right. I was looking at it as the opposite.

So, i shall sneak attack Ruffian 1!
You come up behind the ruffian, who is on his knees, trying futilely to stem the blood flow from the stump that was his hand.

***
The ruffian has an AC of 14, so:

Portia: 20

Cool. The damage is 1d6 + 3, so:

Portia: 6

6 + 3 = 9, plus sneak attack, which is 1d6:

Portia: 2

Total damage is 11, plus a lucky 1 point of damage to ruffian 3.
***

You swing your shortsword at the ruffian's throat just as he suddenly turns in the hopes of counterattacking with a slash. Unfortunately for him the blade of your shortsword was precisely positioned so that he sliced his own throat as he is turning, and his aim was poorly aimed, made worse by his dying chokes. The ruffian's sword slipped out of his bloody hand, and the blade flew past the ruffian attacking Claus, taking a small cut of his thigh as it flew by.

The ruffian stared at you, his eyes fading from rage to nothingness. He topples sideways, dead

Only two ruffians remain.

@twietee let's finish this fight!

Portia (@Moyank24)

Ruffian 1 (Boss) has 22 damage and is attacking Claus.
Ruffian 3 has 8 points of damage and is attacking Claus
Ruffian 2 has 7 points of damage and is attacking Syllin.

Claus: 10 Hit Points
Count: 16 Hit Points
Syllin: 12 Hit Points

the order is: Syllin, Dalo, Claus, Ruffian 1, Ruffian 3, Portia, Veit, Ruffian 2, Batholomeo

It's your attack next. Sneak attack if you can.
Veit said that he would get between ruffian 2 and Syllin to protect Syllin.
The Count is stunned and is losing his action this turn.
Ruffian 2 is attacking last.

Everyone else has taken their turn.

YES, yes more of this! 😀

Just call me Portia, the ruffian slayer!!

That's some Texan halfling, I tell ya!

Anyway, I'll grab my warhammer, move my tiny mighty body - or was it mightily tiny? - between Ruffian #2 and Syllin, attacking him.

The way @ravenvii described ruffian 1 (Boss), he sounds close to death 🙂.

A successful sneak attack by you does 2d6 + 3 damage (5 - 15 points damage).

I'm not sure how many points ruffian 1 (boss) has left but, ruffian 2 and 3 most likely have at least 12 points left based on the other ruffians we killed.
You step in to block the ruffian's rush towards Syllin, and with a battle cry, raise your warhammer.

***
The ruffian has an AC of 14, so:

Veit: 13

You hit, and your warhammer is 1d8 + 2, so:

Veit: 6

You hit him for 8 points of damage, killing him.
***

You smash the hammer directly on the ruffian's face, crushing it. The red-faced -- literally; there are no facial features remaining -- ruffian flew backwards and landed with a thud, dead.

@Scepticalscribe it's mop-up time!

Well, @twietee and @Plutonius, you might need to appraise me of just what, how many, and who - we are still facing.

Ruffian 3 has 8 points of damage and is attacking Claus

Claus: 10 Hit Points
Count: 16 Hit Points
Syllin: 12 Hit Points

the order is: Syllin, Dalo, Claus, Ruffian 1, Ruffian 3, Portia, Veit, Ruffian 2, Batholomeo

I would probably save your final first level spell and attack ruffian 3 (last ruffian remaining) with a ray of frost.

Here, I think that's what's up now:

edit: although Bart should be back in action this turn I guess

I think she was waiting on your input on what to do before giving her orders.

Hey - I was busy drawing those tiny feet!

But yes, I absolutely agree with your suggestion 🙂 - also in case that was lost in translation: I didn't really question your former post(s) last turn. Just some light-hearted humour by the heavy-weight dwarf that's all.

So, you both are of the opinion that a cantrip (Ray of Frost domes to mind) would be more efficacious than invoking my third spell slot?

It's early in the day and we will probably be attacked by additional ruffians while we talk to people in town. I would probably hold on to your last first level spell.

This is brilliant. I want one of these for every turn along with the initiative order an stat listing for each player (how many HP left). 🙂

A heads up: I'm planning on leaving Sunday and returning home on Wed unless you hear otherwise from me.

Hmm..lost a bit the narrative: do we need some info about where to go (Cragshaw Castle or sth similiar pops up in the back of my head)? Possibly a good idea to capture the last ruffian to to question him?

There are one or two people I wish to chat to in the town before we head off anywhere else.

So, then, a cantrip of Ray of Frost, is something I might need to contemplate.

Encounter any ruffians there 🙂 ?

Had to fight off two alligators, but they ran away before I got close enough. 😉 So what's new with our ruffians? I'm getting the feeling we've got feet dragging adventurers. Maybe the local constable election has distracted everyone.. 😛
