That's why I said if. You never know you might be able to find a deal on Ebay and I think they make that case for the 1st iPhone also.
I don't do eBay anymore, personal problems. I'm gonna try craigslist, meanwhile, using it to sell old junk to maybe spare me around $200. I was going to use it for new D40 lens, but honestly I'm going to need this phone fixed more.

What if you find something on Ebay and have a friend buy it and you just pay your friend? I am always buying stuff for friends who don't use ebay for 1 reason or another. I think craiglist is worse and just be careful on that site.
Do you need to have an iPhone? you can get a cheap pays you go at&t phone and put your SIM card in that.
It's $199 to fix it because Apple doesn't fix it, they just replace it. It's the same thing as buying another iPhone for $199 (+your broken phone for trade-in) but without having to extend or renew your contract with AT&T.

It isn't cost effective to replace just the screen. Talk to some of the people who have done their own screen replacements, it isn't an easy thing to do. The labor +parts would cost Apple a lot more money than selling you a replacement phone does.
Also, I think what Primejimbo was saying is that you can put your SIM in a cheap phone and use it as a phone until you can afford to replace your iPhone with a new one.

It's workable, the problem is the chipped parts that are showing the insides often scratch my face when talking, but it isn't completely usable. Yet.
I was just suggesting a regular phone for now, that's all. One of the guys at work broke his iPhone and did this for a few months until he can afford to get a new iPhone. He said it was easy because he was able to drop the data plan and save that $30 a month towards to new iPhone.

Just need to save $50 or so a month(for june/july launch of new phone) plus you can sell your broken one for some money as well.
Mine is cracked as well and am just going to wait intill the new one comes out.
The thing is mines is AT&T but it's unlocked so I can use my current plan, so if I get the new iPhone I'll be SOL since I can pretty much say it wont be jailbroken for a while.

Heh, yeah I'm pretty clumsy, at least I've had them both for a while. I got a case for the phone coming, last one I ordered got lost and the company refused to do anything about it.
I got a few offers for the cracked iPod anyways, that and if I got rid of this PS2 and DVD R/W writer should put me well about the needed cost, new camera lens can wait I guess.
