I am probably going to return mine as well. I only really had an issue with what I assume is dust that originally scared me into thinking dead pixel, until I noticed how it was not uniform.

But I have been having "hiccups" switching to osx. It has not been bad, just not as exciting as I had hoped. The real ticker is this thing is a monster. I had thought getting the "upgrade" from the 13 would be totally worth it, but I am seriouslly thinking of sending this back, and riding my compaq until it dies, and either getting a 13" pro, or an imac and a netbook.

This thing is ok as a desktop replacement, but It is just too heavy for my taste, I know its only like a pound but it sure feels like 4 or 5.

Now the decision to either wait it out, or get the 13 with the free ipod touch.

Sweeten the pot

I wonder if Apple refurbs are that good a deal. There's little advantage to anyone eligible for the educational discount.

Also, according to the Apple rep I spoke to on the telephone, there are no ed dsicounts on refurbs and no free iPod (Touch) either.

If Apple wants to sell (unload) used goods, they need to make the offerings more attractive.

Hummm...$1050 off of a MacBook Pro isn't good enough for you? ;)

I pulled a similar maneuver. Went to order the 2.4 this morning, they were all gone. Heartbroken, I went to work. Checked a couple hours later and the 2.4 was back, placed the order immediately. Then for fun checked again a few minutes later...there's the 2.53! Canceled the first order, and ordered up the 2.53. Whew!

Now the wait...it's being shipped to my parents' house in Oregon (to avoid sales tax) since I'll be there for my birthday on the 26th...this will be a very long two weeks.

I've got my 15" MacBook Pro in my hands now. It's perfect, almost. The 'apostrophe' key wouldn't depress fully, so I took it into the local Apple Store. The genius popped the key off, and there was a tiny screw under it (about 3mm long). Now it's perfect.

If the rumor about serial numbers is true (a refurb has RM or RFB in the number), then I'd guess I got a new one. The battery had one cycle on it and it was built the week of May 11th.

Now if I could just play with it. My wife is always on it.

Does anyone have any issues with their 2.53 or 2.4 ghz MBP? I've liked mine so for but I've only been on it a few hours.

I must admit I am starting to keep an eye out for a refurb:

Just wondering, what's the difference between models with a green dot and a red dot next to them?

EDIT: just wanted to add another question... will the refurb come with iLife already installed or would I need to buy it?
Trying to convince myself to go refurb...
